Oft said. History doesn’t necessarily repeat but often rhymes.

Holodomor, a term derived from the Ukrainian words for hunger (holod) and extermination (mor).

1932 - 1933. Est 3.9 million deaths.

“The famine was part of a broader Soviet campaign of repression and persecution against the Ukrainian identity, aimed at destroying any seeds of independence and cultural autonomy in Ukraine following the Ukrainian-Soviet War in which Ukraine had briefly established itself as an independent state. (1917-1921)”

Then as now, “Soviets actively silenced news of the famine, forbidding government officials and journalists alike to discuss or write about it”.

Then as now. Russians blame the victim. One soviet official of the time saying the distended bellies on starving Ukrainians were deliberate provocations against soviet rule.

All that seems to before current times, are you saying they are starving now?

Of course, many of them are starving at present..  You can't move 2.5 million people across a country, many on foot..and still keep them all well fed.. 
  Soon it will be planting season in the Ukraine, the breadbasket of Eastern Europe. If the war stops today, they may be able to get some of the crop planted.  Wait a few weeks, and millions may have growling tummies in the near future..

  So whose fault will that be..should we then blame it on the starving children?

  The Same holodomor was prosecuted against to the Armenians by the Nazis, during WW2 ! 

  However, there was an earlier holodomor against the Armenians, who were repressed minority Christians in the Ottoman Empire. 
    In 1915, the Young Turks aided by the Russians, starved a large share of the Armenians to death.

  More on the Soviet starvation of the Ukraine..  It should come as no surprise that the people of the Ukraine do not want nothing to do with a reconstituted USSR !

Omega. Not yet and certainly not to the scale of 1932 athough I’m not trapped in a city under siege.

Many a smart person here who knows food is often used to subdue a uncompliant population.
Kidnapping Ukrainian mayors seems the same playbook. Time will tell.

Hopefully the refugees who managed to escape will reach some form of safety.
