Lapping Kit for revolver...what bullets to use??
« on: March 10, 2004, 05:37:15 AM »
I am considering lapping my S&W 625 MG.  The LBT catalog describes purchasing lapping compound and barrel, throat slugs.  As far as the lapping bullets go...what type and hardness is best to use?  Since I don't cast, I only have commercial cast bullets available to me.  I assume the lapping bullets are not part of the kit since nothing is mentioned about lapping bullets.

I recomend 12 bhn, which is air cooled wheel weight alloy.  Any cast bullet design will work OK, so long as they aren't harder, nor a whole lot softer, as going either way very much on hardness will not produce a straight barrel.

We used to supply lap bullets, and do still have a fair quantity left, which we can sell if you email or write LBT with your requirements.  Please don't request prices or availability on the forum as the answer must be personal.
