Today it was fried okra, blackeyed peas, and Texas style cornbread. Um, um, good.

Tacos at Rancho Grande Cafe in town. Not the best I've ever had. Inflation has hit the cafes too. Chips and two bowls of salsa used to come with your meal. Now it's $5.99 if you want them. The 10 dollar chicken fry is now 14 dollars.

Sunday our church had it's monthly "community dinner"..when anyone in the surrounding commuity is welcomed to come enjoy a dinner prepared by th echurch folks.

Our church ladies as usual, take care of this old widower..filling up a takeout tray for me.

So kast night's dinner was pigs in blankets (pork in cabbage leaf)..a dish called "cheese corn"..like mac & cheese, except with corn in place of the mac...gotta getb that recipe... I passed on desert.
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Nancy loves chili.
So since the temp is only gonna be 72 today, I'm making her a pot of chili using black beans instead of pintos.

Nancy and Lindsay had lunch out today, so, I fixed Nancy some Ramen and I heated up a left over baked potato.
Lindsay just came back from London Saturday and brought me a fruit cake from Fortnum & Mason.
I'll have that for dessert in a little while.

Back on Father's Day (Water Carnival Week in my home town} I had a friends and family gathering that was already started when I was still a pants-pooper.
I cooked Pork Chops and Steaks from Sam's Club over corn-cob coals with a few twigs of this that and the other thing for kindling.
I had seasoned them , well, and they were marinading in the fridge for weeks.
I had a LOT of corn-cobs but even then you are cooking over a quite rapidly dying hat so you have work quickly.
Every one loved them but my taste buds were not working so I  had to take their word for it.
Also had:
Orange Ambrosia -- LOVE that stuff and could eat gallon at one sitting.
Potato Salad with radishes.
Coleslaw made with cabage and carrots and she had cut them in thicker pieces, liked that.
Cowboy beans with bacon.
Pickled Green Beans
Black Olives, I ate 90 percent of the jar and drank the juice.
Bacon wrapped Jalapeno poppers
Rhubarb desert and Chocolate cake made with a whole pound of butter.
