If the government ever gave anybody the short end of the stick, it was Randy Weaver. But they never broke him.

The federal government committed double murder at his cabin.   Triple if you count the dog.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at Waco, didn't a sheriff deputy say that he could have gotten Koresh about any time??

Sheriff Jack Harwell picked up the
phone and called David Koresh
when he was in a firefight with
George Roden at the same place
the FBI burned down around their
ears. Koresh walked out and
surrendered to the sheriff without
so much as a harsh word. The
court found Koresh was innocent
of wrongdoing in the matter and
returned the Mini 14 Koresh had
surrendered to the sheriff.
Koresh also habitually traveled to
Waco unarmed to visit the musical
instrument stores, and occasionally
partake at a couple of different restaurants.
The way I understand it, the official
story is that the agents were raiding
Mt Carmel and the ptb sent along a
camera crew to video the raid in
"COPS" docudrama style, and the
the video crew blew the cover when
they asked Koresh's neighbor for
directions after getting lost. With the
element of surprise out the window,
the supervisory people decided to
hey diddle diddle right up the middle
and push ahead with the raid .
We all saw the rest on the "news"
He may well have been a nutbasket,
but he shouldn't have been incinerated

I had friends in law enforcement there. The ATF was about to get a huge budget cut, and they needed a big weapons seizure to justify their present budget.

The sheriff pleaded with ATF to let him call Koresh to come to his office and talk there. Koresh had previously invited ATF to inspect his community weapons vault but they declined.

The ATF loaded dozens of heavily armed agents into horse and cattle trailers to make a big show of force inviting news media to film the big bust.

Not properly identified, the Davidians mistook them for radicals and fought back. "Posse Comitatus" was violated repeatedly during the standoff.

Travesty of justice. Seems to be a common theme...
