I guess when you go up against a world power such as Ukraine, and lose, you need to bring in whatever you have... I have said before, other than using nukes the Russians can't afford to engage in a protracted land war.  Their PR is way more than their capabilities.  As the say in Texas "Big hat, No Cattle".

Can't imagine that lasting very long on a battlefield with American M1 tanks, in fact I'd bet the M1 could take on a 5 to 1 superior force and win easily. Dunno what those twin guns are but appear to be around .50 caliber or Russian equivalent, ain't gonna cut it against an M1. Only four of what are called grenade launchers.

The M1 can spit out real cannon fire so fast those things wouldn't know what hit them and it also has a .50 caliber machine gun.

Just because they call it "Terminator"..doesn't make it any tougher.  It was used by the Russians in Afghanistan...many years ago.
To me, it looks very fragile and vulnerable..note the open vision covers for the driver and BOG.  That area is facing flat to the enemy, foregoing even the glacis benefit. ....And it looks like the armor plate is not more than 1" thick.
Do you see any reactive armor plates on the turret?  I don't...and the items clustered around the turret area, look like they could easily be damaged, even by a Ma Deuce (.50 cal) ...

Russians generals are noted for "bragging big", and it looks like they bragged big to Putin concerning their rediness and capabilities..  Perhaps that is how he got in such a pickle..with his 36 hour campaign to capture Kyiv..

yup all the square body parts kind of flys in the face of new tank tech. My guess is like yours. Russia has never been much on worrying about its soldiers being killed. Id about bet its a cheap suiside vehicle. If it was all that formitable they would have rolled it out day one. Its probably  a poor design thats all they have left to field.

As I look closer, I am even less impressed..  The eyes and ears of tis machine, look like they are in sheet metal boxes clustered around the turret...a sweep over it with anything from a SAW gun to a .50 cal could blind the crew.
   https://africa.businessinsider.com/military-and-defense/russia-deploys-its-terminator-armored-fighting-vehicles-designed-for-urban-combat-as/694sttm

Look at that dude rendering a salute..the lid he flipped up, looks very thin and easily penetrated.

It looks like  a Bradley of Stryker could consider it "light work"..  No need to call an Abrams.

Being based on the T72 tank, the Terminator was developed in 1998.  Now, when a country develops a great military machine, other nations are knocking upon their door, with cash in hand.  Outside of Algeria, we sure haven't seen a rush to buy terminators.

I gather the Russians don't call it a tank, but think of it as an 'armored battle vehicle' to support their other tanks, or to support infantry missions. It has several weapons systems  on board.....missiles, 30mm dual cannons, grenade launchers, etc. And can take on ground and air targets

Anyway I  don’t  know much about these kinds of war toys, but Wikipedia has a write up on its specifications, which states it has reactive armor. Check it out....seems like a new category of battle vehicle.
.

Reactive armor on the sides, note the plates outside the tracks and hull.  It is the turret that seems most vulnerable..  It appears the "eyes, ears and aiming devices" are clustered around the turret, and only protected by very thin armor or even sheet metal.

Not an expert, but just a guy who did serve as a tanker many years ago, but keeps up an interest in armor developments.  I expect those either recently or currently serving in armor  can furnish much more info that can I.
The Russians use xplosive reactive armor..that is, when a projectile hits such armor...the armor explodes toward the projectile, hopefully either destroying the projo, or at least blunting it's force.

A note about reactive armor..  The Russians have a reactive armor..which is designed to explode outward toward any projectile that hits it, hoping to destroy that projo, or at least blunting it's force.

The Abrams had Chobham armor (ceramic/steel layers..plus other secrets.)..  Sometimes the Abrams will use reactive armor for special cases.

Our armored vehicles alsohave the benefit of the US/Israeli developed "Trophy" protective system, which explodes many and ordnance BEFORE it hits the tank.

One thing of note... tanks are normally accompanied by infantry, operating alongside.  Since the Russians use explosive reacting armor, to have flat armor would mean that their own troops could be killed by the plates blowing outward.  That is why the Russian tanks so often have those plates that are severely sloped..so the  explosions are directed either upward or downward, rather than straight out, so they don't kill their own troops.
See the difference below..  since the Abrams either detonates the projectile far away or  absorbs the projo, it's plates are flat..or somewhat sloped.
TOP..T90 Russian...  Bottom, of course, Abrams..

By now, European NATO should be kicking in enough weapons for Ukraine to defend itself.  One thing sure, if congress feels it must send more...they should be placing checks and balances concerning where and how the bucks are spent.

Especially now, since we found how the extravagant over funding of the"covid crisis", now has those dollars being spent to teach "critical race theory"....teaching kids how to be neo-racists !

They're already over spent and out of money. They are taking money out of the Veterans Administration benefits budget to fund their border jumpers aid coming across the border.

It's not a tank, but an armored fighting vehicle. Their version of a Bradley.

..And it appears, taking qualified doctors from the VA, and replacing them with PAs.  On my last visit, my VA oncologist, who replaced a retiring oncologist about 18 months ago, told me she was leaving...being replaced by a PA !

Concerning the Terminator. Interesting. Designed as tank support but carries no troops like a Bradley.

Has a “superstructure” atop a T72 hull for crew space then the remote turret. About the same weight as the T72 with its big gun. Sold as a kit to convert standard T72’s.

Got to be better then a BTR but still hazardous to operate.

Don’t know about that sanction stuff and our French friends. Gear from French aerospace giant Thales has been showing up in Russian drones and tanks. One Russian drone had a Thales imaging system with a manufacturing date of Feb 2022.

Thales thermal imaging system in a T90.

Imagine that !  A french manufcturer sells advanced weapon systems to Russia in 2022.  Now France and Russia are possibly going to war.

You’re right Mule. Didn’t notice the blood splatters an bits and pieces till looking again after reading your post. Should have choose a different pic.

Russians deployed their one Terminator company (about 20) in Luhansk with several seen on video. Some Russkie designs are pretty bizarre while others like the Terminator seem well thought out.

Many Russian vehicles using a O tactical symbol for some reason.

The terminator armored battle vehicle can be operated remotely unmanned.

They better be quick about it, because Musk is doing new tanks for both US. and Germany..

It is likely just as well they use up their T72s for those purposes...because they are basically obsolescent anyway.

Musk is having talks with Balsonaro.
There's alot of talk around that Musk is moving Space X and everything to Brazil, since the USA is so far gone to the commie nazies there's no hope of saving it.

After a search, I discovered a link where Musk met with "far right" President Bolsonaros.  There seems to be some talk about cooperation between the two, in order to improve some things in Brazil.

I didn't see any suggestion about Musk moving to Brazil.  Perhaps somebody can find such, but I didn't.

IG.....lots of entrepreneurs are looking at Brazil as the next 'in place' _ _ especially if WW3 goes totally hot Brazil may be spared.

Probably true...although they maybe hit with roving radioactive dust clouds...if it comes to that.

If Brazil gets their act together and stays with a conservative government (hopefully an honest one)  they have the resources to become the next super power.
