Cummins preveiws hydrogen engine

Well there is lots of power in hydrogen, but, without a hydrogen gas station everywhere it won't be practical except for local deliveries close to a fuel source.
It would be nice if the major gas companies started building hydrogen stations around the country because that is the perfect gas in that there is zero pollution when it burns.
The link didn't say anything about cost of the engine or the weight or if a light truck engine was in the future.

And, I'm all for developing hydrogen powered vehicles.

I don't know why diesel is so much higher than gasoline.
After all it is not as refined as gas and should be cheaper.

ram also has a new gasoline powered motor based on the cummins diesel. It shares the same block, crank ect so it should be hell for stout as a gas motor. So far there talking only 3/4 ton trucks though. Most likely do to the weight of it.  Shows though that development of gasoline motors is hardly dead.

Diesel is taxed at a higher rate versus gasoline because it doesn't burn as clean as gasoline. Remember back in the seventies there was boom in the manufacture of diesel powered cars and light trucks because diesel was considerably cheaper per gallon than gasoline. The feds and the states put a stop to that by increasing the taxes on diesel to discourage potential buyers in an attempt to reduce pollution.

I think they should have stuck with diesel.
I like the smell of diesel and horse barns.
