You know Bob, many of us are descended from British stock. I served among British troops, and for the most part they were first class...but I worry about a hefty chunk of their civilians.
Now I know you guys have a difficult time understanding why we Americans are so "touchy" about our guns.. Well, lets say that started about 250 years ago, when a tyrant king who suffered for episodes of insanity, sent his troop to take guns away from his heretofore, "loyal subjects"!
It was aboiut that time when we Americans decided we were no longer happy being just "subjects".
That was when the troops of George III, left Boston to teach the the unsophisticated frontiersmen a lesson at Lexington and Concord...... and take their guns away !
I can see them now..Lt Col Francis Smith leading formations of troops in their bright crimson coats..marching into Lexington in precise formation....drums drumming and pipes playing.
It was then, when Major John Pitcairn demanded..." You... $%*&^...rebels, lay down you arms"..
..And it was rightabout then when the minutemen decided they were not about to lay down their arms...for anybody! ...And we will still keep them today, thank you !
Shortly after, those "lobsterbacks" were scurrying back to Boston, crying to the king.....only to be kicked out of Boston, a few months later !
..See a scene from Lexington, below.
