Anybody Know Anything About Hi-Point Carbines?

Gassin For a Carbine in 40S&W....Can't Find a Ruger....So, I Thinkin about a Hi point, But I know Nuthin about Them

No personal experience, I've been tempted to get one many times but just haven't done so. All I've heard is good about them so long as you can get by the ugly look but then that's in the eye of the beholder.

All I hear is they function with near perfection and are adequately accurate for what they are. I've also heard they absolutely stand behind their product with customer service.

I don't know any of those things personally as I said but it's what I've heard.

I'm told they have a lifetime 100% warranty even if you're not the original owner. But their mother in law ugly.

Ya pay for the new look of these. Before they got a new skin they were butt ugly yet they ran well and probably still do. Now ya pay for the cosmetics. I have an old ugly that flat out runs and paid $100...

I've known a couple who had one
and as said they are very ugly, but
they work reliably forever +2 days
The biggest problem I'm told of
is magazines. Mainly finding them

JMHO- If I could find a reasonably
priced case of expendable ammunition
I'd probably buy one tomorrow

I watched a video where the guy tried to destroy one.
That thing just kept going even though the barrel was beginning to glow.
I'd trust one.

All I have heard was good about them. I have a Kel Tec sub 2000 in 40 and it works well. I bought it for the neat factor.

had a 40 sw. Shot the living snot out of it. It was very reliable and fed about any cast bullet. But it was ugly and at the time there were not high capacity mags out for it. So i gave it to my neighbors son. Ive given him probably 50 cofffee cans of ammo to shoot through it since. About a year ago it started jamming becasue the feed rails were shot. he sent it in and they totaly rebuilt the gun and sent it back with two free magazines.

I have had a 9MM model 995 Hi Point for years. I bought it used and filthy for $100, cleaned it up and it still runs well. I think of it as my "Planet of the Apes" gun, there when and if you need it. Beauty is only skin deep, it's what's inside that counts.

We have a Hi-point in 9mm and it's a shooter. Likes everything we run, and has never failed thatI can remember. It's tricked out a little. Never thought about entering it in a beauty contest. But you know what they say about pretty? Pretty is as pretty does. And it does.

Yes. The ones I've seen and handled
only accept the factory hipoint magazines.
Probably thinking of the keltech sub
that uses various handgun magazines
including some glocks

Mines a 9MM and uses glock 17 or19 mags. Its a Kel Tec sub 2000. Great for camping or hiking.Hot 9MM can dang sure take out a bad desert critter. And its accurate.

I stocked up a whole lot of reloading supply’s especially primers ,i knew this was coming when the left would start in on ammo. And here we are. I bought a lot of primers back when folks were worried about bill Clinton.

I was like Bill thinking about one of them for years and finally bought one the day before thanksgiving this year in 45 ACP on a pre Black Friday sale. I immediately took it apart cleaned the bore, removed the sights, removed the little rail under the forend and the rail under the barrel this alone was about a half a pound of weight loss.
I mounted a 4 x scope on the top rail and took it to the 50 yard range at my gun club to sight it in. Elevation was pretty close but it was shooting at least 10” right so I kept turning the scope dial until it maxed out and it was still about 3” too far right.
The trigger was very heavy and I decided to quit before wasting anymore ammo.
Since then I have remounted the scope with Millet steel rings since they are windage adjustable and changed out the sear spring to lower the trigger pull. I have not yet had the chance to get back out with it and shoot it some more.
I do have a HP 45 ACP pistol and it is very reliable and accurate and it will share magazines with the carbine so I believe the carbine will be the same when I get it set up right. Their ugliness doesn’t really bother me

Ugly, that comes from its predecessor coming into being at a time when most guns were wood stocked, pleasing design and not black plastic ugly.
Today that is just some one mimicking what one heard.

Since I bought the High Point I have had it to the range 3 times and it keeps getting better. The adjustable rings allowed me to get the scope sighted in from the center of its windage adjustments and I have shot several type of bullets 200 gr, swc, fn, HP’s all cast bullets handloaded I never shoot factory loaded in any centerfire and they all feed flawlessly. The winter weather here has been very variable as one day it semi warm and sunny and then back to freezing cold but always windy. The days at the range have all been less than ideal for accurate shooting because of the wind. My groups are consistently 2” and under at 50 yards and I haven’t tried yet to find what it likes best as I think it can do better.
So I am very happy with this gun. I am mainly a single shot guy but to have 1 centerfire that’s semi auto and in a caliber that I usually get brass for free and shoot low cost cast bullets in its worth having for many reasons.
I would not have any hesitation to use this for deer hunting if used in a blind, tree stand or anywhere where shots would be under 75 yards. I’m happy with it and for $ 270 new it was a great choice.
