I don't know if Elon Musk's starlink is available or not.

My guess is yes, based on the fact that our dashcam shows your speed and when you change speed it seems to change instantly and I've never seen it quit working.
But it's only a guess.

I don't think it's any better. It sure wasn't when I finally was able to switch to cable a few years ago. I can't recall how many years but less than 10 I'd guess.

I don't know if Elon Musk's system will be all he claims it will be but if so and if it's available in your area it will be night and day above the rest. I went from about 3-4 megs at most to currently 300 with cable. They offer a gig but I tried that and it was only delivering about 300 megs here so I just changed to the plan that gives me that and saved a bunch of money.

A 300 meg connection is fast, really fast.

Tried HughesNet a couple of years ago and it was terrible. Wound up going with AT&T, they offer what they call a digital home phone that is basically a cell phone with wifi/internet capability. It has worked fairly well for us for a couple of years now. We live 5 miles out of a small town and satellite or what we are using now are about our only options.

Sparklight is who I have my service with. They offer the one gig speed in this area but for whatever reason I cannot get it to work at that speed. They claim it's my connection from their line to my computer. I don't know. I do know I have one of the fastest computers you can buy for home use. But perhaps my internet connectivity isn't as good as it needs to be.

I am getting 300 megs tho and I'm telling ya, that is FAST.

I don't doubt that.  I have 100 megs and run two smart tv's, two smart phones and a computer, and it's plenty fast.  They also offer the one gig for 30 bucks more a month, but so far I don't even come close to needing it.

No, that refers to the speed, not the total usage.  My broadband is 100 megs per second.  For 30 dollars more, I would get speeds of 1 gig per second.  There is no cap on total usage.

Starlink from SpaceX has a waiting list.  The more satellites he puts up the faster the internet speed.  Right now he has about 2400 satellites in orbit.  The goal is to put 42,000 up there so you will always have one is sight.  The equipment costs $500, and costs $110 a month for service.  The dish is only 16" in diameter.  It points straight up as the satellites are always crossing, not pointing at just one, but picking up one crossing, and then the next one, an so on.  The new satellites will have laser connection to each other and back to the ground.  He started putting them up to operate in the northern hemisphere first like northern Europe, Canada and northern US.  The grid is gradually working it's way down.  I've read that it is faster than any other system.  The military is highly interested in it because Ukraine is using it to guide their drones to targets using GPS.  The RV version, also from what I have read costs like $139 a month, but can be used anywhere you go.  Just stop, set up the dish and with a power sources you are in business.

My info is second hand from people that have used it and like Dee said, the opinion is that it sucks. I have an option other than that, wireless from the local telephone co-op, and I get a whooping 18 megs for $50, take it or leave it. If I lived another half mile from their tower my options would be satellite or using a phone for a hotspot which I have no clue how to do. My whoopy-doo 18 megs seems to do OK. It will stream TV and run three other devices at the same time with out any problem.

It is internet service through a cellular network. I use it for work and it works pretty well.
