There are many good officers out there, many more than bad.  In this instance, I agree with them, he was told not to, disobeyed and then wanted someone to risk their life to come get him..no, let Darwin have him.

I would find a less liberal newspaper for more believable cop bashing. The Sacramento Bee has endorsed nuthin but democratic presidential candidates for over 40 years.

You are right, there are many good cops out there and I have video proof of that.
Did that fellow deserve to die, no, he may have been drunk, or high, or had a mental condition.
As long as he didn't murder someone he did not deserve to die.

People do stupid things that sometimes ends up killing them. Ever tried to save a full size grown drowning man who's trying to climb up on top of you to keep his own head above the  water?

Rare and obscure.  Blown out of proportion.  Media hyped in the false narrative that ALL Police are bad.  Get out there and try to do their never-ending job - wading through the underbelly of humanity. 

The Media says police should put their own mortality aside and attempt to save idiots from themselves, "feel good" when EMT's administer Narcan to OD'ing drug users, and "it's raining" as they piss on your leg.  FOOEY!  STOP letting The Media tell you what to think!

Dee has it.  Ever attempt to save a drowning man?  They will KILL YOU (and themselves) trying to gain purchase and stay above water.

Of course there are good cops and of course there are some bad apples in the cop barrel. The media DOES NOT focus on the good deeds done by cops but shows the BAD. It's called "if it bleeds it leads". Over the years I have know some cops, not because I'm a bad guy but just becoming acquainted with them through similar interests. Every one of them was pleasant, friendly, and did their job well. I have only known three real a-holes that were cops. Of course this is not a densely populated place and the crime rate is low as long as you stay north of Hobbs and there it's mostly gang banger, petty drug dealers and thieves.
