They have a definition of an assault weapon now. Pistol grip, detachable mag, flash suppressor, barrel shroud, blah, blah, blah.  Their pipe dream is to get this passed, then you can bet the next definition of an assault weapon will include any semi auto rifle, then any semi auto pistol. or any hand gun in general. I idea is they can just continue to change the definition of what an assault weapon is until no one is legally allowed to own a firearm.  All they need to do is get the SCOTUS filled with Kagan's, Sotomayor's, and Jackson's.  Its why the election process is so important, but we no longer have fair elections anymore, nor do we have many of the elected actually uphold the constitution anymore.

but dont you see. Technically your bolt action rem 700 has a pistol grip as does about every bolt action rifle or shotgun. Even there thumb hole stock bs is faulty. Lots of bolt actions with thumb hole stocks MANY more then there are ars or aks with them. This is just a back door into all of our guns.

Sad thing is that many have been saying
that for years and years, but many didn't
want to hear it.  Kinda like the situation
with border jumpers.  They didn't think it
affected them, so they didn't GAS
I used to be very active in a couple of local
gun rights groups and wrote many
letters and spent lots of dollars on D.C.
phone calls, sat at tables at gun shows
passing out pamphlets and applications
for the NRA and TSRA and such,  etc.

We got where we are today because of
people who didn't GAS and were ate up
with apathy.  I can't even begin to say

The only semi-auto rifles I own, are .22LR..   Under Cuomo's "safe act" those are included, and proving the left's STUPIDITY..that means no Thumbhole stocks.  So, if I want to, i can't get a thumbhole stock from Boyd's and slip it onto my 10/22..or in my case, my TCR22.
   I won't be putting such a stock on my old Mossy or High Standard...but then I couldn't legally, if I wanted to.

Ya that one has me scatching my head too. Id guess there taliking something like a forend on an ar15. but about any stock shrouds the barrel, It would be a hot sob to shoot without a stock of some kind on the front. I guess that would make those old remington semi auto 35s and 30s illegal for sure. They do have a barrel shroud. as would a carbon fiber 10-22 barrel. I guess you have to write off to the people writihg these have no clue. Just pick words out of the air that sound good.

When I lived in central Washington State there was a proposal in the legislature that included no pistol grips. So I sent a picture of my old single shot shotgun which had a pistol grip stock just like many have had for years. Don't know if it helped, but that proposal failed at that time. One problem is that language changes over time. The Brown Bess of the Revolution was the assault weapon of it's day as was the.58 Springfield, the Trap Door, the Krag, the 1903 and 1903a3, etc.
