Education? Where at ?
« on: June 10, 2022, 02:00:20 PM »
I attended a high school graduation
for one of my youngest relatives, and
I was pretty proud to see so many
young people on their way to becoming
honest productive citizens.
But there were as many things that
made me very sad.
Probably a quarter of the students had
a mother and a father representing
them. The rest were mostly evenly
divided between having a mother or
a grandmother as their parent.
I was ashamed to see so many tattoos
among that young of an age group.
I had thought one had to be older
to get permanently inked. Some
other disappointing things that I'm
probably not entitled to an opinion
on. But I'd have to say that the thing
that really bothered me was how
functionally illiterate many of the
young people are. One of the students
talked and commented about how
some of the people who had contributed
to her "SUCCESSFULNESS. . . .
Huh ? Don't you mean success, period?

Sad.     Very sad. . . .

It is sad, before I retired the number of millennials I interviewed were pretty discouraging. Not a one of them knew how shake a hand and look me in the eye. They had no conversational skills and couldn't communicate well. For a majority their only concern was how much they would be paid, how much time off they would start off with and showed no interest in the actual job and its requirements.

Luckily, my Dad worked my butt off burying septic tanks and digging the field ditches .
(That’s probably why my back is so bad)
But he built in me a work ethic, but, now there’s jobs out there and the democrats are still paying people not to work.

Yeah
Very sad when you think about the
young people are fresh from 12 years
of schooling, and are receiving a diploma
that states they've been educated in
accordance with the state requirements.
Yet, they are barely literate and can't
use proper grammar or read aloud or
silently either one, can't do simple
math in their head, or much of anything
that should be required of a properly
educated 6th grader, not to mention
a graduating high school student.
Drop outs aren't the only source of
bank tellers and cashiers that can't
count money, or others in the nation's
workforce that are unable to complete
basic tasks

Had a gal come for an interview as a Drafstman.  She wore her "party dress".  After the interview, ALL the gals in the office descended on me to protest, "You are NOT going to hire that girl!"  Yes Ladies.  I didn't...

I hired a State licensed, professional engineer, college degree, whose age, experience, and career were markedly similar to my own.  His longevity and places of business were known to me.  His career, as far as I could tell when hiring him, was a success.  He had filled two positions, which I had left, now filling a third that I was leaving after 14-years.

In 6-months, my new job didn't work out.  Hired away, more pay, a LOT more stress, and new job NOTHING AS ADVERTISED for which I was hired.  I QUIT, asked former boss to come back, was rehired, and found "a mad house" that demanded bodies to get the work unraveled and done on time.  My former position, now filled by him (sort of), took me to a seat as "just another staff engineer", rather than "Department Head".

He had perseverance, persistence I suppose, and like me, "knew the territory".  He met budgets (on most projects - like the rest of us), could "push a rope", got his work done, signed, sealed, and permitted for construction.  I thought it odd that he was a "loner", not at directing, yet not inclined to mix in with staff.  He stayed at the office A WHOLE LOT longer in the evenings than anyone.  In a rushed email to a preferred client, the wheels fell off.

Turned out he was functionally illiterate, couldn't spell, written grammar was very poor, skills I wouldn't ordinarily "look for" in an interview with someone I "knew" to be a mathematical success. ALL of his former submitted reports for construction permits, progress meetings, project information, stuff I had read - ALL looked fine, but could not undo the one "rushed" email.

I was instructed to review EVERYTHING he did thereafter, a foretelling.  I had no way to know how he got it done.  It was all pretty much OK.   I suspected his wife was correcting his written reports, at home, though I never got any confirmation in that.  He left to further his career in government.  I got my job back as Department Head and completed a 32-year career there.

You’re just mad because you can’t “date” her.

I don’t doubt it as Ive heard she is almost as big a whore as the rest of our so called representatives... There is a very small number not in this category.

I have no idea of her morals but good grief, that woman is scary looking--- and apparently almost brainless.
