I'm interested in buying an air rifle for indoor practice at position shooting. It should be accurate enough for me to be able to measure improvement. What guns are worth looking at and how much do they cost? I don't want to spend more than I have to.

It's hard to beat the Benjamin/Sheridan pump pneumatics. Under $100.

If you mean you want to practice competition style position shooting -prone, sitting,kneeling, offhand- I'd suggest you try the Crosman Challenger - about $200-$250, the Daisy Avanti guns ?? $250 - $300 plus, or try the Chinese low end competition guns in the $150-$200 + range - See Compaseco web site. Or check the gun auctions for used guns like these. I'm guessing on the prices a bit as I don't follow them much. But these are pretty economical compared to the serious competition air guns that start in the $1,100- $1,500 range and just go way up. I don't think a multipump gun would be the thing unless you mean practicing positions for general hunting. HTH

The Daisy 853 would be VERY hard to beat for the money. Mine stacks one pellet on top of the next with good pellets at 10M. $187.85 at dnrsports.
