There is even talk of a "national divorce".  That would be a mistake, opening up the 2 smaller entities to foreign takeover.
  however, if it does happen, I would hope it would atbthe least, be done by election on a county by county, rather than a state by state level.  Otherwise , many conservatives would be terribly abandoned.
