Well, according to the NWS it was 129 degrees here about 5 PM day before yesterday. My old faithful red stuff in a tube thermometer said 97 and my having lived here most of my life self said it was about that. It has never been 129 degrees here in my lifetime. I have seen 114 for one day back in '94 or '95, forget which. The NWS is a government agency. What do you expect? Surely not accuracy or efficiency.
Edited to add: The highest recorded temperature in NM is 122 degrees and that probably happened around Lordsburg which is right against the Arizona border and the fartherest south place in the state. In Texas, my birth place, it was 120 and as just a guess, probably in the Big Bend area.
