Butt hurt
« on: July 10, 2022, 11:00:42 AM »
Not used in a derogatory manner,
but I just learned that the word
"RETARDED " is now classified in
the same class as the word "Ni**er"

Sorry, but it's a very real scientific
designation regardless if some
pinheads along the line used it
as an insult
Never saw so many thin skinned
people in the world as now.
People today get butt hurt because
the sun rises in the east daily
and feel the other compass points
are discriminated against

Here is a PSA on it,  I about died laughing when I saw this on TV. I think this back fired and ended up being a joke.

I've never called anyone a Retard.

I have said in conversation that someone is slightly retarded or severely retarded and see nothing wrong with it.

Never said retard in a derogatory manner
myself that I can remember.
When someone says "special needs "
that's a broad umbrella and people
shouldn't get butt hurt if you're trying
to find out if they're autistic or something
or mentally retarded or what.
I know of one young boy that was
autistic and you couldn't speak above
a whisper near him without him
screaming hysterically

I've called plenty of people a retard, many an FN retard, but it was right after they done something stupid, and it wasn't usually in anger.

My wife has a friend with a son who is severely retarded.
He’s a sad sight.
And I mentored a autistic boy at my wife’s school who I didn’t consider retarded because he knew every nascar driver, their car number, their crew chief, their car brand, and, going down the road he could name every car brand and the year model.

I've likely been guilty of using every negative slang word available to an English speaking society at one time or another. There are some morons out there and occasionally they need to be identified.
I'm definitely not part of the woke crowd.

I have used the term retarded, which before it was used as a mental description, simply meant slowed down or held back.  My goodness, the older cars.. such as models A and T, had to have their spark 'retarded' along with reducing the throttle.

I have used the term "retard" as a descriptor of a person perhaps a few times, but not on a routine basis, knowing it carries a negative connotation.  Actually I have never used the term to describe a truly challenged individual, but to describe a politician or leader who makes what seems to be an incredibly stupid move.

Language usage is an interesting phenomenon, because the meanings of the words change during popular use.

For instance, years ago some people thought the term "queer" was a word that conveyed hostility..so the opted for "homosexual", thinking that was less so.  ..But soon in the public mind, homosexual took on a sense of disgust.
So, the advocates co-opting a common term..calling the same habits, "gay".  Today, that term is often used as
   a negative comment.
You can change the spelling all you want, but you cannot change the common perceptions so easily.

Sadly, years ago people who were mentally challenged, may have been called such adjectives as dummy,
moron or stupid.  Thinking to ease the situation, some folks suggested that such unfortunates be referred to
as being "retarded"..then a more kindly term.
Soon however, it was truncated to "retard"..now a pejorative term.

Again....You can change the words, but you cannot change the perceptions.

If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)
