which Magellan?
« on: March 11, 2004, 12:36:23 PM »
I have an opportunity to pick up a Magellan, either a Sporttrak pro or a Meridian gold, fairly cheap, but I'm not sure which to buy-it will be used for hunting purposes and marking the occasional deep water bass honeyhole (I have not been fishing in years, but hope to return to it one day)-mostly hunting purposes ie how to get to my stand before daylight and how to get to camp in the dark at night...

Which one to get???

Thanks

Dave

Dave, I went through the very same decision process a while back, STP or the Gold. I bought the STP for the following reasons. It's a bit smaller in size (physically) than the Gold.  The 23 MB of memory for maps is a LOT of memory space, so I didn't want/need the removeable card of the Gold. The STP was THE most accurate hand held GPS tested to date at that time. I use mine for similar purposes as you and I don't regret my decision. The accuracy is astounding! MI VHNTR

I went w/the Gold because I *do* want the extra memory capability and have a spare 128Mb SD card from my digital camera I can use.
