Jeep commercial
« on: July 24, 2022, 01:15:24 AM »
Been seeing this Jeep commercial on Youtube recently. Jeep Grand Wagoneer $89,995. Am I that lost in the past that this just seems outrageous, or am I just a much poorer hillbilly than I think I am?

My son helped his lady friend look for a new vehicle not long ago and observed that they were now about twice what he expected.

well its main competition is the range rover and what will one of them set you back. Both out of my  price range and i dont need a soccer mom unit anyway but id bet over its live that jeep would cost you less to keep on the road then that range rover even if both cost the same.

Don't touch Land Rover with a ten foot pole..
Once owned by Rover..back when they were decent; then by BMW, then Jaguar..now half owned by the Chinese.

I don't recall which series it was, but a few years ago, one series was so unreliable, that some owners out of repairs frustration, were junking theirs after just 2 years of use.

This consultant rates worst SUVs to buy, and he rates Range Rover as worst of all..

When I was shopping for a new truck, a few years back, I saw sticker prices in the $80,000 range. For a TRUCK!

never forget in 79 i bought a new sliverado 4x4 pretty much loaded for 6k. When i was in the show room they had another on the floor even more loaded for 7k. Now that 1k was alot of money then. Its about like the differnce in a 50k truck and a 75k truck today. Thing is i made 5.25 an hour then which was good money. Today the same job pays around 45 an hour so 8 times as much. So if you factor that in my 6k truck today should cost 48 which is right at what i paid for my crew cab ram offroad in 2020. Even gas prices today that take our breath away if you factored in that same 8x wage increase arent really all that far out of line. We were actually spoiled for years with gas prices. I know this guy would sure love to go back to being spoiled. But prices today be they cars or even homes are really no worse then what we faced when we were young or our fathers faced. My dad bought a new home in  61 for 10500. 3 bedroom generic ranch with a one car garage. What did he make? I forget the exact pennys but remember it was 2 dollars and something an hour. but he would always say you could get a much of beer then for a dime and a nice new car for less then 3k. When you think about it all this crap is crazy. Keep giving us raises to make us believe were doing better and all the time prices rise right with it. Neither the consumer or supplier is really gaining. Just a dance.

Jeeps ( whatever the model is called now)
are really popular with the hood rats here
now.  The big ugly chuck wagon wheels
and boom boom speakers and all that.
I'm sure some rapper started the trend

Some Jeep models...i.e. Gladiator, Wrangler are quite expensive.. care to guess how folks in the "hood" an afford to buy them?

$90k over 84 months @ 0% = $1071.43 per month or $268 weekly. Must be a different level of income than I'm accustomed too...........

there was a wealthier sub division in a neighboring town. I knew many living there just worked at the local paper mill and couldnt see how they could afford a home there. I talked to a banker friend of mine and he told me they buy those homes and just keep paying only the interest every month and nothing on the principal. He said most of them go back to the bank in less the 10 years or are sold and the owners have to pay off the loan and get back to reality and the next owner does the same. Bank doesnt care because they actually make more money while the people pay interest because they dont pay down there principal so the interest charges never get lower. I wonder if some dont do the same with there cars. Pay just enough to keep the bank from taking it back or more likely are just leasing those expensive vehicles.
