Roundup is useless lately so I need something that will work.
Nancy will be close to a Tractor Supply Wednesday so a brand name would be a big help to her.

What are you trying to kill?  Roundup has a couple different mixes, one for standard grasses and weeds, and one for harder bark like vines.  Of course there are a bunch of non Roundup stuff as well.  The ingredients you are looking for are glyphosate, which kills most grasses and broadleaf plants, and triclopyr, which works on vines.  Roundup is labeled for certain things like poison ivy, and one for blackberry but both have the same percentage of ingredients 1% Gly, and .1% triclopyr.  There are a bunch of other products as well, so it all depends on what you are trying to kill.

There was a time that roundup killed all grass and weeds, but the last two times I've tried it was a failure.
But someone named a brand sold by Tractor Supply that was supposed to be really good.

Try "Crossbow" it is available at Tractor Supply here, but I don't know about other states.  This stuff is really good, kills blackberry bushes and all.  Not cheap but effective.

Never had a problem killing any weeds with roundup.  Maybe you are diluting it to much.

Never used gas, but have used diesel as a surfactant for some of the products I spray now and then, but with the price of diesel nowadays, it may be better to just buy a commercial surfactant.

I've always erred on the side of a little extra concentrate when I mix it.
I've had good luck with roundup but I think the lawsuits against them may have caused them to weaken it or change ingredients.

Haven't had any problems with roundup killing weeds and grasses. If I want to kill woody plants and, or trees, I use "Remedy" properly mixed with diesel.

i kind of agree. I use roundup quite a bit. I also have gotten some of what the farmer we shoot deer for uses to kill of the grass in his fields. HIs works much better and kills anything it touches. He said the big difference is round up has more of the chemical that stops it from going into the soil (carry over) by dissipating quickly. Round up has definitely changed there formula. Used to be it took almost a week to see results. Now its more like 3 days. But i agree with you in that the newer stuff doesnt seem to kill like the old stuff.  As to brush be gone. Dont bother. i was told the difference between it and regular roundup is it is selective. It like weed and feed will kill leafy plants but not grass. Roundup will kill everything. Round up for brush is not more potent if anything its less potent. Salt is the ingrediant in round up that kills. Ever notice how well dog urine kills grass and plants? Salt. To bad someone couldnt bottle dog urine. It works better then any roundup.

Yeah, we have two dogs and in the past they killed a lot of grass.
This year one of them started peeing in what I call the moat, it's a curving gravel drain lined with large rocks.
She started doing that when the rain caused the grass to get a little high, she don't like getting her butt wet.

We use clorine bleach to kill grass and weeds on a paver path we made.  They grow between the cracks.  Bleach is cheaper.

Boiling water and it’s very cheap. I cook outside and anything I want dead I pour my pasta water on. Sometimes it takes a couple few times as I don’t saturate one area as I don’t like seeing worms fly to the surface writhing. Don’t get me wrong I have zeroe problem loading them on a hook.

I had some privet headages i tried to kill with round up and it wouldnt touch them. So what i did was dug a small impresssion in the dirt and poured straight roundup in it where the roots were. It took care of them in short order. But like i said i probably could have done the same cheaper with gas or diesel or like was suggested bleach or even salt water.

This article states the difference between roundup and RM43. RM43 is not as good for an area that you want to plant anything in the next 12 months. Where Roundup kills weed, and doesn't harm surrounding plants, or something else can be planted in that same area where roundup is used. RM43 has a chemical called Imazapyr in addition to Glyphosate which keeps anything from growing in treated area for 12 months.

Interesting article.
We got the RM43 for our decorative gravel moat and the driveway and outside the curb between the concrete curb and asphalt where grass and weeds like to grow.
Nancy sprayed those areas twice with a new batch of Roundup and nothing happened, so according to the article RM43 is just what we need.
