« on: July 28, 2022, 03:08:25 AM »
What is it that we are in?  The worst recession that I kive through as an adult was 1980's.  This one appears to be worse.  What do you say?

The 70s of Jimmy Carter was terrible, interest rates were through the roof.  Home loans were 9% or higher.
The current mess hits everyone of middle and lower class equally with the price of everything shooting up and interest rates are going up fast.
Plus, California is trying to outlaw owner/operator semi tractors which is causing a huge backup of goods out of their ports, and many owners are leaving there for good.

All my adult life, I've heard that a recession is defined by two quarters of negative growth.  Well, yesterday it was announced that we officially had our second quarter of negative growth.  Recession?  No.  Now it seems that employment is too high for it to be a recession.  Think we would have been told the same if Trump were president?

It's not just the Demorats. There's enough Repuburats joining in to make their plans work.
Check out one of good ones in the Republican Senate, and what he has to say. IMO, we need more like John Kennedy, and Rand Paul.

It sounds like a Depression to me. From what I've read about it. Only WWII brought us out of that one. Is it going to take another war again?

I luckily have a job that provides me a company car and pays for most meals.  I feel for the people driving 20 to 50 miles each way for work and are trying to feed their family.  I  was shocked when I saw a whole chicken cost more per pound then pork.

We got stagflation from Jimmy Carter..  Stagflation is when we have both inflation and recession...something that it appears only a Demonrat can do.
