Homeowners insurance
« on: July 29, 2022, 11:35:34 AM »
Any of you had your policy come up for renewal lately? I gave up and paid mine today. The premium only increased 50% and I could not find one company any cheaper. One even quoted me one three times higher for the same coverage. The latest I have heard on inflation is 9.5% which is a flat lie as anyone that buys gas, groceries, or almost anything else can see. Thank you, china jo, you stupid, worthless SOB.

I was talking about the lying inflation today. As far as home insurance, our co. Gave me a list of things I had to do for them to cover me. I feel like sending them a thank you note for the money I’ve saved over the years :)...

It is getting to a point where "going naked" is starting to look appealing.  Sure, it's risky, but I look around at the number of homes near me that have been damaged by weather, fire, or water and while this is the Capital of lightning and hurricanes, very few houses have actually been damaged.  The percentage is low.  The probability is low.  Food for thought...

Of course, if you are in a flood plain, tornado alley, mountains frequented by fire and earthquake, tropical rain forest, or routine path of hurricanes, insurance remains is a good idea.

I was with Allstate for almost 10 years. Switched over to Farm Bureau and go a decent break.

Gotta keep shopping home and auto insurance every two years or so.
.

Yep! Companies give good rates to get you signed up then gradually raise rates.  The company that raised rates the fastest after I signed up was Nationwide. I didn't stay with them very long at all.

Works well with car insurance.  I wouldn't jump around too much with homeowner's insurance.  You might find yourself unable to purchase it next time.

I enlisted my computer geek son and we went searching for cheaper homeowner's plus the local agency where I have my auto insurance did the same. The result? My current company has the cheapest rates so I bit the bullet and paid up. Can't go naked as a hail storm or very high winds will eventually get my roof. I have only had one roof weather out to where it was time to replace it and a hailstorm saved me from having to do it on my own. The insurance companies aren't dumb. They factored in the much higher cost of materials now and raised my coverage accordingly. Thank you again china jo, and you are still a stupid, worthless SOB.

Florida is downgrading insurance companies for cancelling policies on homes with roofs older than 16 YEARS.  Good for you Mr. Florida Insurance Commissioner.  Kick the Carpetbaggers out!
