. . . .  Build the wall, enforce legal immigration, and remove anyone that isn’t here legally. That’s what would have been done to me in every country I’ve lived in outside the US.

Well.  . That's something that should
have been done decades ago.
People that thought that way were
called racist bigots, and mexican
haters, and whatever other derogatory
name you can think of.
Many other thousands didn't care
because they thought they were
far enough away from the southern
border that it didn't affect them.
Now that it's been put in their laps,
many don't want to go back and
say " I was completely mistaken and wrong "

14 out of 36,000 police officers have left NYC. That’s .04%. Doesn’t sound like a serious exodus to me.

New "voluntary quits" data shows New York Police Department officers are leaving the force in a "stampede," according to NYPD Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch.

It is a flashing alarm on how bad it is to be a New York City police officer amid rising crime after years of social unrest and calls to defund the police, the New York Post reported.

There have been 2,465 NYPD officers leaving this year to date, a 42% increase from the 1,731 that left by August last year, pension fund data shows.

More alarmingly, those leaving before reaching full pension at 20 years is up 71% (1,098) from this time last year (just 641).

Lynch took exception with the NYPD Chief of Department Kenneth Corey claiming the exodus is due to a large graduating class from the police academy.

"We have had retirement waves caused by large academy classes before — they were nothing like this," Lynch told the post. "This exodus is the result of cops in the prime of their careers deciding they have had enough.

"The NYPD should stop trying to explain this staffing crisis away, admit there's a problem and help us fix it."

There have been almost 1,000 NYPD officers that have resigned or retired since the June report in the Post, including many giving up reaching 20 years for their pension benefits that could give them 50% of final three years' average salary.

The Post cited "anti-cop hostility, bail reform, rising crime," and the now-paused vaccine mandate as the reasons for the mass resignations.

"They are leaving for other opportunities where they’re paid better, treated better and have a better quality of life," Lynch told the Post.

A 30-year-old Queens cop quit after just seven years on the job, citing the "oppressive work environment."

"As soon as I left, I felt a huge weight off my shoulders," the officer, who only gave his name to the Post as Dave, said. "And the sad part is that the job doesn't need to be this way. I hear it all the time from friends who went to other police departments. They say, 'They treat me like an adult here.'"

“ the crap hole NYC is.”
I just cannot let that go. I do understand that this post is way off topic and I do apologize for that.
I wonder, when I read silly generalizations like the one above, how much time the writer has spent in NYC. Yes...there are some nasty dangerous places in the Big Apple;  They are
Far outnumbered by “places of signigicance” be that historical, cultural, athletic, financial, religious. Yes, there are some very bad people in NYC. There is no surprise there.
Most of those eight million souls, however, are good hardworking folk. You would not know that from reading many of the posts here

Violent crime is surging in NYC, as in other cities run by democrats. Stats show that people are leaving NYC more than any other city in the country. Estimate is 277 people a day are fleeing. The reason for that is democrats have turned the city into a crap hole. If it wasn't a crap hole people wouldn't be leaving.  These people in these cities always vote for leftists, and free handouts from the public trough.  After a couple decades of voting for leftists they don't like what they got, so they flee to another city.

If I recall you used to live there, and help vote for what they got. Right?

Have to say I was initially tickled to read how Texas was sharing the burden of open borders with those who want open borders but no burden. But now I find myself agreeing with Kari Lake that it just makes it harder to kick them out as they’re now in deeper in our borders and able to get lost in the masses of the blue cities. Build the wall, enforce legal immigration, and remove anyone that isn’t here legally. That’s what would have been done to me in every country I’ve lived in outside the US.

So Texas is causin the problem now?
How about those late night "anywhere you wanna go" airplane flights the Biden Regime has been doing for about a year now where they're (border jumpers) dropped off at small airports all over the United States?

Dee: Help me out here. “ with inbred New Yorkers”……..
What is an inbred NYer?

Agreed DG..guess I'll also wait for an answer..  Seems like with all the immigrants already in NY City, inbreeding would not be quite the challenge it may be in certain more remote communities..

...And no, having lived in various areas of this big, beautiful country, I won't cast any negative aspersions
upon any section of it.  North, south, east or west there are good places and people in every corner.

... Unfortunately, there are also bad places and people in each corner of the country.

“ If I recall you used to live there, and help vote for what they got. Right?”.   I still have a home in NYC, I am back and forth between PA and Brooklyn regularly. I do not know where you found your statistics but find them you did. I am hard pressed to see this mass Exodus. Building continues apace...residential building. Real estate prices are at an all time high. When an apartment or a Brownstone comes up for sale, it is snatched up within days. Makes one wonder about all those people leaving.
And you do not have any sense about how I voted in NYC.

“ Results from the 2020 Census confirmed that New York City's population grew significantly in the decade up to 2020, by 629,000. The city's population growth happened via natural increase, the excess of births over deaths.Nov 13, 2021”

I found these links in less than 5 minutes. Odd that you claim NYC is growing when there are literally hundreds of articles stating otherwise. Not surprising. When there is information you don't like you just claim otherwise.
I can clearly guess how you vote, just from seeing your posts here for how many years. Plus you were a unionized teacher, and we all know how unionized teachers vote.

Perhaps properties in NYC are changing hands, perhaps from single owners to corporate owners.  I can't speak
to NY City, since it is over 350 miles, and a 'world away' from where I live in NY..
Totally different place..totally different people !

Just as Plattsburgh, NY is about 65 miles from Montreal, in the province of Quebec..
Totally different place, totally different people..different language..

In any case, there are people exiting NY State in fairly large numbers.  Perhaps it is more noticeable here in
the less populous areas.  I do however, suspect that residents of NY City don't mind the "Big Brother" type
government, due to their propensity to accept socialism.

Somehow those homes around here, are being sold to somebody. Perhaps the draw is the comparatively  low values on real estate. Homes here that sell for $160K, would sell for probably $360k in an Atlanta suburb, or $560K in the high tech areas.

So, perhaps some are attracted from out of state who are not politically aware, see reasonably priced homes as
   an attractive feature.
Actually, most homes I se sold are bought by locals, perhaps first time buyers.  So far as the cities, it may just
be a case of conservatives moving out, and lefties moving in.

Nope, I didn't say Texas is causing the problem, did I? What I said is I agree with Kari Lake, when she said it makes it harder to kick them out.

Are you saying that Abbott is just doing what Biden did? I wouldn't have put those two things together myself since I don't think they're coming from the same mindset. Abbott is highlighting the problem of open borders; he's doing it in the daylight in order to draw attention to the problem. Biden did it in the dark. But the fact remains, every person bussed further into the country and not out of the country, remains a problem that will need to be addressed.

OK, so as you say, ..."Most of those eight million souls, however, are good hardworking folk"..

So let's say you are correct in that line about "good, hard working folk".

So if that is true, why do those Good, hard working folks vote into office, tyrants who tax the hard working people to death, rob them of their rights, turn murderers and other violent criminals loose, even without bail?

Why do they elect such a crooked governor as Cuomo, or his chosen, anti constitutional she-wolf into power?

Yes, they would not have been elected without NY City, sure as.. %^#*& .. nobody anywhere in NY State beyond the cities, wanted those crook/tyrants in there.  We have far too ,much common sense to choose slavery!

Best news in the world...should these two areas "divorce".  We are "incompatible"..

Id even give them Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany to seal the deal !

  WIse words, considering a similar issue, 2 millennia ago;;

  "
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. (2 Cor 6:14-17)

IG: love those picture sets. What they show is that NY is not one or the other; it is both. It is a state of great natural beauty and of vibrant, powerful commerce. It is inaccurate and misleading to characterize NY as one or the other.
When someone chooses to show pictures of grafitti covered walls and places that are grimy and soiled and say “this is NYC”, they are correct. Those places exist. They exist along with neighborhoods of residences so grand that they boggle the mind, of parkland that has offered a respite of peace to those of us who live near, and calm neighborhoods with hundreds of children and places for them to play.
There was a reason that the attacks on 9/11 were focused on NYC and not Fort Worth, or Dubuque and that reason was not that NYC is a shithole.
Populations follow employment; in general, in a state of 19 million souls it is understandable that 12 million of them live in that little downstate corner. That is where the jobs are and the money. Yes, there is an imbalance of voters (nearly 3x the number of registered Dems as Reps). I have no answer as to why that is so. I will leave that speculation to others.

I would agree that NYC is basically the center of trade probably world wide. But it is also on the top of the heap of liberal socialism.

DG;
I appreciate your answer, but in my mind, we ARE two different, very different populations..  Possibly because there are so many of recent immigrant stock in NY City, is why they tend to veer off far left.
...Or possibly because so many are on the dole, and electorally are only concerned where the next freebie is
   coming from, thatmakes a difference.

Yes, we have some parasites outside the cities also, but not whole neighborhoods full of them !

I tend to think that crime thrives in large cities because of the 'safety' that anonymity affords them.
In the rural areas, we know who the bad guys are, and can keep a closer watch on them, as can the sheriff.

i am sure some like city life because of the "cultural" events and/or venues, but for me, I would be sacrificing too much freedom to be willing to participate.  Besides, much of the cultural stuff can be had through other venues, right from where I am at !

The differences are just too varied to elaborate, and that is why I see the two very different New Yorks, as incompatible.
I presume people in eastern Washington and eastern Oregon, the folks outside the twin cities of Minnesota, those who live outside Madison in Wisconsin and outside Detroit and Flint in Michigan, feel much the same way; but i will defer to their comments..

Much of the problem arises when those who are elected by the deep blue cities, write the rules for people living in the 95% of the state, which are not city.
Sure; perhaps the NY City residents cannot be trusted with guns, but that doesn't mean all NY State residents are so unstable.  I cannot recall when the last gun murder was committed in our county, and the keys to my house doors are used very little.

In fact, one home with 7 acres, that I owned years ago, I lived in for13 years.  I got no door keys with it..and passed no door keys on to the next owner !

That to me, shows the difference in character!  We in the rural areas, need NO moral guidance from the politicians in Albany.
In fact, we think they have very little true moral guidance to offer us, especially not from personal experience !

State leaders are elected by big cities...and they are "foreign country" and foreign values to us !

My wife's sister lives in New York City, the Bronx.  She has a one bedroom small apartment that is over $900 a month rent.  Our 2800 square foot home with a swimming pool is $900 a month on mortgage.  Hmm.  Don't tell the big city or west coast liberals to come to Alabama.

The so called poor states of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Dakota, North Dakota and I think one or two others have the lowest number of homeless in the country.  Even the poor can afford a place to live here.  Even if it is a small mobile home.  Also, these states have more church members as compared to the general population.  The churches in my location have homes for men and women who are homeless, drug addicts or such.  They get a place to stay, meals and evangelical teaching and help to get them back on their feet.  All without government support.

That is the way it should be everywhere...

Mule took the words out of my mouth, when he said, "The way it should be" !  Pretty much the way it is here,
except we really have no homeless.
Still, our church and many others have free food giveaways and are ready to help the needy or addicted.
We are especially watchful for the spiritually needy.  help them onto their physical feet, while feeding them good spiritual food, is the answer for many.
On Sept 24 we will be holding an 'old time tent revival' celebration. There will be free meals, live music and preaching for anyone who stops by. We will be especially watchful for the broken hearted and/or addicted.

Jane, a real "prayer warrior", and myself will be manning a "prayer and Q&A booth", for all who need prayer or have questions.

Last year we had over 300 attendees. hope to double that this year.
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

only homeless we have here are people to lazy to work. I dont feel i owe welfare trash, drug addicts or alkys the sweat off my balls. They made there choice in how they wanted to live there life. I have no problem with a church giving aid to some old man or old lady that cant pay there bills because there on a fixed income but thats where i draw the line. Theres one thing thats available about in every town and city in the US today and thats jobs.
