Dermatologists Just Ain't No Fun!
« on: August 16, 2022, 04:34:51 PM »
Myself and Linda journeyed to the skin doctor today (we do things together). Had a couple a thinges froze on my cheek, and temple, and two little harmless thinges in between my shoulder blades.

Damn that freezing burns. Huh?  :o

Well, we're good for a few months.  :)

Yup that freezing kinda burns or so it seems. I had a couple spots on my face I wanted gone and the doctor made them go away and got a bit carried away and did another 5 or 6 while he was at it.

All seem gone now tho a couple of them sure took their sweet time before going away. None of them were cancerous or any such, just a nuisance and I wanted them gone. Dunno what's in that canister he used but it sure was cold.

Nitrogen I think. The one on my cheek was "pre-cancer", but nuthin to worry about.

Oh, come on you two and quit being wimps. Take a couple of Tylenol and it's over with.  ;D Being blue eyed, very fair complected, and spending my life outside in the southwest sunshine I have been zapped so many times with liquid nitrogen I lost count long ago. It's been going on for over 40 years. I don't enjoy it but it is necessary because some of those spots turn into basal or squamous cell carcinomas and a few may be the dreaded melenoma. Get them early. Right now I have a very sore neck from having a basal cell carcinoma sliced out of it last week  and still have three more to go. Wife has the same problem as I and is getting one gone Friday. Her total so far is 7 while mine now stands at 9. They aren't fun but Tylenol takes care of those too. It just require a lot more of it.

They aren't burns, they are frozen spots and need nothing but letting them dry up and peel off. That is from the three dermatologists that have worked on me. It has always worked for me and my wife.

If you get enough done at once you will want a couple of tylenol. Try a dozen or so on your face and it ain't funny at all, especially out in the sunshine. I had one done right beside my nose while the whittling was done last week. Darn, that is a tender region and made my eyes water. I didn't need tylenol for it but did when the gash he made in my neck woke up. This has been the most unpleasant of all the cancers he has removed. It's where my t-shirt collar rubs on the bottom stitches and the muscle it's in complains if I get my arm in the wrong place. Seat belt does the same. It will improve immediately as soon as the stiches are removed. Thing is he will cut out another during the stitch removal appointment but at least it isn't on my neck. It's on my forehead and wearing a hat or cap might just be a problem for awhile. I'll live over it---with the help of some tylenol.  ;D

try having them take your hip and knee out 6 months apart. Worse was the ankle replacement. Or having some bolts and screws put in your back. You want dumb? When was young back in my partying days i had a big wart on my finger that  bothered me and was in the bar and the bar tender said just cut it off. So i took a razor blade and cut it out. We had a bit of a mess. Thankfully he had lots of pain killer though.

I have had a few removed with liquid nitrogen..no big deal.  I have had 3 cut out, a couple on my neck and one on my right rear shoulder.  That last one, the doc took out a pretty good sized slice, just to make sure he got it all.

Th excised part was about the size of a large peach pit.  After it healed, there was some residual pain, until the tissue finally lost the tension around the area.

my left shoulder slants straight for a ways instead of being round because of one cut out of it. It was a big chunk to lose but not very painful at all.

I have a friend that owns a large machine and welding shop. He is a tough old buzzard and ignores dermatologists.  When he gets a spot he just heats a welding rod red hot and sticks it to it. Not for me, I'll take the nitrogen. It smarts but not like being burned and I have had enough burns to know the difference.

compound w makes a kit to freeze off skin tags that might work for some. It worked on my skin tags. They freeze and fall off. I had one on my _____ sack and it did the job there with very little pain. It isnt cheap though. Like 40 bucks for the kit.

Problem with home cooked cures such as cauterizing such growths with a welding rod, or even Compound W, is that you must be sure that you have gotten it all, if it happens to be cancerous.

I've had so many frozen and cut off, I've lost count. My bigger problem by far is psoriasis. My Immune system sucks, and one of the problems that shows is Psoriasis. It can appear and reappear anywhere. Including my sack. Not a good place to deal with. I have every cream and shampoo known to man, and nothing works well. When the itch becomes unbearable, I suck it up, and out comes 70% rubbing alcohol. Once the fire cools down, the itch is way better. Then I apply the salves prescribed. I'm getting good at climbing the walls.

I have some places with skin tags
and blemishes I wanted to remove,
and it's way too expensive to get
a professional dermatologist to
spray some deep freeze on them.
If I could find a source for decent
medical lidocaine, I'd chop em off
myself.  I've burned a couple off,
but after a bit I got too shaky to
do it right. A relative used a boiled
pair of new sidecutters for their
home surgery, but I'm not that
tough anymore

Well, my latest skin cancer removal hasn't been very pleasant up to this point. All the others have been fairly painless except for a short time after the lidocaine wears off. This one is in the neck muscle that runs into my shoulder and it has been very annoying up to this point. It's kind of that "so sore you can't touch it with a powder puff" thing. If I sit in my recliner I have to be carful where my arm is or it starts hurting and sleeping has been a rolling and tumbling act trying to find a comfortable spot to the point I think I'll spent the night in my recliner with a pillow to keep my arm where I want it tonight. My wife just cut the collar out of two t-shirts this morning so they won't rub on it anymore and that helped some. Still hurts though and I don't dare rub it because that just makes it worse. Tylenol hasn't been a great help either but I will live over it. It also helps some to bellyache about it.  :D

Dry ice at  -107F , is definitely cold enough to freeze off tags, moles, and warts.   Sold by Walmart or use to be. Just have to figure how to apply precisely.

Dry ice can be used in branding cattle and horses.
