My words in Bold letters.

The 77-page report described "an overall lackadaisical approach" by the 376 local, state and federal law enforcement officers who responded and were at the school.
"There is no one to whom we can attribute malice or ill motives," the report says. "Instead, we found systemic failures and egregious poor decision making." Well no! No malice or ill motives. Just incompetent cowardly conduct, while children died. None in that hallway deserve to keep their jobs. They failed to do their duty. They didn't even attempt to. Should also be some heads rolling at that school, and the district leaders.

since when does a school board have the power to fire a police chief??? Talk about an overreach of power. Whats next? Are they going to claim the power to elect or impeach a president?

Actually Lloyd, the school board CAN terminate a school police chief, as they are the ones that likely hired him.

Ironically, and HYPOCRITICALLY, the school board is more responsible for the student/teacher massacre than the police, as they had literally years to harden the school building, doors ect, erect security fences ecru, and train teachers, and other school personnel to keep that school secure. BUT DIDN'T!

THAT IS THE "COVER-UP" IN THIS TRAGEDY THAT EVERYONE "CHOOSES" TO IGNORE, BECAUSE NO ONE HAS PUT A FACE TO THEM,  NOR WILL THEY.  ;)

Yeah I never heard of any school board having the power to fire or hire any police force.  The only people school boards hire and fire are superintendents. If they have any power to fire and hire city police officers its news to me. All school boards are good at doing is spending money.  The Uvalde school board are just trying to cover their own ineptness up by suggesting the police chief be fired, and that is all they can do is just suggest.

While the police force in this case was a "Keystone cops" scene..I see the school board as trying to direct attention
against the police, in an attempt to do a CYA !
It wasn't the police who left doors unlocked, and apparently provided no teacher training for such emergencies.

..And wouldn't it be the school board's choice to allow qualified teachers to carry?

No, as I see it.. the school board also bears some responsibility, which they are trying to dump onto the police...

What some of you guys are missing is, Uvalde School District Chief Pete Arredondo was hired, and employed, by the "UVALDE SCHOOL DISTRICT".

And ironglow, you are correct. Uvalde School Board IS directing attention away from themselves onto the police, and its OBVIOUSLY WORKING.

You got that right. They all need to go. Reality is, I think you have seen the end of head rollings in this tragedy. They (The school board) failed to protect children under their care. And the cops in that hallway, did a piss poor job of protecting and serving that day.

What do school boards do? They orchestrate procedures, security measures, SPENDING IN ALL ASPECTS of school budgets, AURTHORIZE OR TABLE ALL PROGRAMS AVAILABLE, ect.

Some still grapple with grasping the fact that, had the Uvalde Independent School District SCHOOL BOARD, instituted security measures INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, working security doors inside and outside, and trained their school staffing, erected security fencing with proper locking gates, along with STATE OFFERED training for teachers and staff.
THE MASSACRE LIKELY WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED.

YES! The police failed. TO "PROPERLY" CLEAN UP A MESS CREATED BY "THE UVALDE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL SYSTEM, AND SCHOOL BOARD"

OK! EVERYBODY GETS THAT!

It's like blaming the pilot for the plane crash, after discovering the "maintenance crew (SCHOOL BOARD)" didn't tighten the bolts holding the engine on.

That police horse has been beaten into a bloody deceased mess. The Uvalde Independent School District, AND SCHOOL BOARD, go unscathed with OBVIOUS FAILURE on every front.

Actually, THEY DO hire and fire, and THEY DO manage everything from protocol subject matter to be taught ect. Have you not seen the uproar nationally at school board meetings concerning critical race theory being taught in schools?

It was up to the Uvalde Independent School District to solicit bids from contractors to install security systems, doors, windows, ect inside the school, and contractors to construct security fencing.

It is the school boards' JOB to monitor what is going on in the school they were elected to oversee. From budget to operation, to educational material, and criteria.

didnt know that. I thought they had no police presence in that school. Up here school security is controlled by our sheriffs dept and the sheriff himself is an elected position. The road patrol deputies rotate for a week at a time as school security.  The school board sure cant have him removed. But then we are lucky in that our school board is still concerned with our kids not politics. Shame in this is the residents of Uvalde are allowing the school to put the blame on the police and not holding the school accountable for there part in this. At MINIMUM the school superintendent should share the same fate as that police chief.

Our local school board has been a "rubber stamp" for the administrators, not regarding the tax payers it would
 seem.

That is until this year, and the freedom movement that has taken hold in rural counties, some declaring their determination to be a 'constitutional county'.

This spread to school board elections, where a freedom sponsored candidate won over another puppet... by a landslide!

That Candidate named Mark, is a Christian who along with 2 brothers, has an auto dealership, truck stop and
other business ventures. I taught them in Sunday School, and know their character.

One problem..school boards are elected one by one over years.  If there had been a full board re-election, the right side would have swept the board clean.

Then start at the top, and terminate everyone who failed the children that day. From the head of the school board to the cops inside that building that stood by while lives were lost. We know this will not happen. They will place it on the School Cop who was suppose to be in charge, who has resigned and the buck will stop right there.

I have as much say in what happens in Uvalde Texas as you do.  That county has a sheriff, a District Attorney, a county attorney,  and a court house.

THEY will decide what will, or won't be done. You and me don't get a vote, it ain't our community.

I feel pretty lucky. Yup we have a liberal governor and that sucks. But the UP compared to lower michigan is like comparing the earth to mars. Up here the school boards care about the kids and the police actually serve the people. We get some bad apples in the state police occasionally but the local police and sherrifs depts are fantastic. Id about bet i could walk into the sheriffs dept tomorrow and say im to crippled up to mow my grass and one of them would be  here tomorrow to mow it for me.

It's that way pretty much everywhere in America Lloyd. The Sheriffs are elected locally in their respective counties. If you live in a small town, then the local police are usually not affected by state politics. (For the most part) . Like you, I live in a state that has a Leftist Governor. We have more conservative real estate in Oregon, but the majority of the population live in the metro areas, and they vote Liberal Democrat. We have about zero input into our state laws passed because of this. Here in southern Oregon where I live, our sheriffs refuse to enforce liberal mandates that are not constitutional, but the local (City Police usually do) All it takes is a Liberal Mayor, and you have a Police dept. that will lean that way. They hire (not elect) Police Chiefs that in some cases come from out of state. Even the small town I live in has had Police Chiefs brought in from out of state. Some from California. They WILL enforce Liberal mandates. We are lucky now to have a good local man that came up through the ranks. Since Sheriffs are elected, and we are majority conservative down here, we will usually get a good man who is pro second amendment. We have such a man now that is our Sheriff. Forget the state police here because they work for the Governor. Our last Conservative Republican Governor was 1987 (35) years ago.

Here is what we will have to battle from the Liberal Government in Oregon this Election year..............
