I was wrong on her car, stupid as I should known with out thinking as I bought parts for it; it is a Grand Marquis, which was produced years after they ceased making the Crown Victoria.
She has had both bumpers repaired, not replaced, a deer and a delivery truck, one fender replaced (rust) and both rocker panels repaird.
On the Rocker panels, the left side was a little over 200 for parts, the right side was 500. I actually went to a Ford dealer for the parts and the shop man said he had no idea why the difference, so a gent at the body shop cut and welded in replacement metal, on the right side rather than a factory part for far less money.
Now we had an old school body man , who sadly retired last year, but cost for parts were not excessive and I ordered all the parts myself online and one place we got the fender from, sent a left front rather than a right front, when I told them, they sent the correct fender (no extra cost) and told me to keep the other fender.
It is still in the form fit box the factory puts them in, in the garage, AND I do not remeber what, or when I actually ordered a different time, but I got a complete steering column (plug and play) that I had not ordered, I needed a body part, from the same yard. Again they told me to just keep it and then sent the correct item.
I still remember the body shop man calling me and saying "Bob I think you should come and see what they sent."
SO, if you take the time to order your own parts, it save you money, and the body shop people appreciate it.
