Halloween is just a fun time for the kids.  Aren't too many pagans taking it serious.  And, I like a good horror movie.

Just me-  I was more alarmed
at the popularity of all the vampire
and werewolf/supernatural
hero television shows and movies
back when.
What sets me back right now is the
popular primitive/druid/pagan rock
groups that dress like the dark ages
and play human bones and skulls
as percussion instruments.
I saw one report where there were
quotes from different fans that
wanted to have their own human
bones to click together in time to
the bands, and several that were
wanting a genuine human skull
to drink from like their heroes
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Interesting, how the ugly, weird and macabre are taking over much of children's programming..

Look at the vehicles the younger folks drive. They call it "blacked out". No chrome, even the light lenses are "blacked out".

Yes, I often wonder if that is not a clue to something more sinister..

My post concerning the Ouija board is to point out the dangers of what some consider an innocent
   "parlor game' .

The Oujia board seems to be a portal that invites demonic possession.  Not that the board itself has any power,
but that it requires one to "empty their minds" or open their minds, however one wishes to phrase it.

By emptying one's mind, one drops their guard, which allows other things a place to enter..
"Nature abhors a vacuum", and in this case..that spiritual vacuum is often promptly filled.

So, I ask..  Any horror stories from playing with a Ouija board?

Formerly oldandslow throwing his two cents in. We used to have an ouija board an I don't remember anyone including me emptying our mind when playing with it. It was just a fun thing to pass the time with and eventually we grew tired of it. It was a toy made of wood and ink. No one that ever sat down and played with it became evil. Even our young children played with it. My parent and aunts and uncles did the same when I was a kid and allowed my cousins and I to do the same. Not a one has become a bad person.

As for Halloween it is a day for kids to dress up as various fictional things, scary or other wise. Some of my crew of little boogers are on a Star Wars theme this year. The youngest is dressing up as Baby Yoda, another as the Mandolorian, and another as R2D2. I did it, my children did it, their children did it and now it's the fourth generation's turn. Let them have fun. There is real evil in the world but what has become a fun holiday has nothing to do with it.

I don't believe in things like ouija board taking over a person's mind just like I don't believe in ghosts, goblins other types of spirits, black cats being bad luck, or all the other crap dreamed up with no basis except in some people's less than rational minds.

Now the one about walking under a ladder is rational if someone is working on the ladder, No use in taking a chance of said person dropping something on you.

Oh my God, ouija boards, are you in grade school?

Which means?  Did you play the Ouija board in grade school?

It is not the board but the process, since some have done it (to their regret) with makeshift boards..  I have known groups who dabbled in such
games, and received very negative results.
Of course those are rare cases..possession itself is a rare event.  Just because it is not within your experience, doesn't mean it
  does not happen !

In another thread here on GBO, we discussed the holocaust of the Jews during WW2.  I did not directly witness that, but I have little doubt it happened.  ..But as I said, some folks who did not witness that either..insist it never happened.

Demonic possession takes very subtle forms, and almost always it presents itself as "harmless fun".  Up there in the tree the serpent , encouraging Eve to take the fruit, said "surely you shall not die"..  (Nah..just some harmless fun..)

Many things that are detrimental to people are presented as "harmless fun"...  Marijuana, LSD, gluttony, drunkenness, meth,
cheating on spouse, Heroine, reckless driving and smoking...  Grievous sins are often presented  as "harmless fun"..

He keeps his big lie alive...

You don't think the dead can be contacted?  I admit it is a rare encounter, but you claim Christian roots, so read (1 Samuel 28)...
common knowledge every Christian should know .

Yes, it should be kept away from kids, but a wise adult would not participate either.  There is no useful purpose for it, so why not find
something more wholesome or constructive to do?

I have often wondered..we often hear..certain things should be kept away from kids because they are harmful...so what makes these
same things so beneficial for adults?

Again, it is not the board, it is not the game..it is leaving your mind/psyche unguarded.  Many can dabble, but the demons may be
interested incertain people more than others.

Consider the Gadarene demoniac, why would he be "gifted" with 6,000 demons, while others visited the same cemetery, and were not affected?

Could it be, he just once decided to mess around in that cemetery..a little desecration..a little "harmless fun"..?

We had one as kids. Didn’t try to talk to dead people, it was mainly who likes who and other kid stuff.
As for pagan rituals, we’ve absorbed many. Christmas trees and ornaments, mistletoe, Santa Claus and Easter eggs and rabbits all have pagan origins.

Those assertions are nothing new, and most people don't take them any more seriously than Tired took the Ouija board.  The problem is some few do take them seriously.

Not everybody who celebrates Easter is involved in pagan fertility rites nor do they celebrate the winter solstice with Santa Claus.
..And there are many people  who are educating people concerning this ancient mixing of pagan into Christian.

For those who have delved into the game and paid little attention to the usual practices of same ..good for you, you avoided any danger.
If you doubt possession can take place, check with  (Mark 5:1-20), then tell us more..

If you don't think the dead can in nmo way be contacted, read (1Samuel 28), then let's discuss it !

   Here, for other Christians  https://www.bgdailynews.com/community/billy-graham-theres-nothing-innocent-about-occult-games/article_3579793c-c4d2-5224-ab17-1b8e5b38c837.html

Here; From Dr David Jeremiah.    https://davidjeremiah.blog/angels-and-demons-qa/

If you are not a Christian..no need to click on it, since you probably wouldn't understand it  anyway...

Well; I got many denials of folks speaking of their own experiences, which thankfully, did not do them serious harm.. "many are called, few are "chosen"
I hope you noticed that I did offer  some credible voices..people with years of experience in the spiritual field..and much experience dealing with those harmed by the same.

   This from Dr Billy Graham;

" Why is this? For one thing, playing this game could make your son think that things like astrology, tarot cards, palm readings, Ouija boards and similar activities are simply harmless pastimes. But they’re not because they may bring a person into contact with occult spiritual forces that are absolutely opposed to God."
