Yes, I remember those old, balsa wood planes. Even the small 1/8" strips to form the body..then [put the paper cover on.
Then comes the test..dampen the paper cover and let it dry. With luck, it comes outstraight and true. During WW2, my Dad worked on the old P-40 Warhawks and also the Bell P-39 AirCobras..
He worked for both Curtiss and Bell at differing times. Neither the P-39 or P-40 were anything super, but they did hold the line until better hardware came along.
