PBS has good shows week day mornings and week ends.
« on: October 29, 2022, 12:42:39 PM »
I am watching a show on PBS that has a British woman exploring the different countries (I feel stupid, I thought the various part of the Britsh Isle were states like in the U.S.) and it is very, very interesting as she gets away from the big metro areas and shows what would be fly over parts in the U.S. are really like.

Week days morings, around here, are where you now find what used to be standard fare Saturday mornings of cooking shows, wood working show, antique shows , etc. 8)

I saw a similar show on Youtube, where a woman tours quaint villages in the UK.  I very rarely tune into PBS, because of their overt bias.
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87ckrC6mU0U

There are plenty of videos aimed at exploring the UK..
     https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=exploring+the+uk

It seems like the British, especially English penchant for 'tradition' encourages them to put extra effort into preserving and maintaining  historical sites and idyllic villages.  ..Certainly nothing wrong with that.

That is what I thought also. Glad you said it first as I get enough attacks here. PBS is right there with NPR and MSNBC...

It's ok I guess if you want to watch an
hours worth of how downtrodden and
disadvantaged and abused homosexuals
and brown skinned people and everybody
else in the cruel world is except for
successful Americans are,  then I guess
it's ok. Used to be lots of nice nature
and historical documentaries on, but
the last few times I've tried to watch any
of it,  they simply must include some
form of woke something to inject into
what might otherwise be an interesting
and entertaining program.
Dang,  even cartoons are nothing like
they used to be.  Some time back I
was with a woman with two young
kids and I was trying to watch one of
their favorite cartoons with them.
The premise was that the "good "
characters were locked in a formal
perpetual combat with the "bad"
characters,  and they "fought " their
battles by summoning demons and
spirits with certain cards they would
play in the arena of combat.
Mom didn't see any harm in it.
"It's just a kids show " was her attitude.

That all depends on the day of the week and time of day you watch, up here we have 4 different, same studio home, PBS channels and as I said, Sat.( and Sunday) plus weekday mornings there are some pretty good shows, often.

The cooking , antique, building and travel shows are quite interesting.
My favorites are/were New Scandinavian  Cooking and Woodwrights Shop but sadly the gent who made N.S.C. so good, retired this year and Woodwright last show was filmed Dec. 2016; I wated that show for over 30 years.

After noons and some evenings get pretty bad but now they scrambled the schedule so they are scattered (used to be a couple of day they were all the same days) the British mystery shows are quite interesting, BUT,  and this is on some recently filmed shows, the mysteries have homosexual men shown as being persecuted.

You do not know they are homosexuals till the end of the show and that is why they had problems blah, blah, blah.
Sad, makes a good mystery a  queer polical  farce.

Pawn stars and American Pickers are fun to watch on the History channel. They come across some of the strangest stuff, and people.

Lloyd, if you enjoy the study of history, go to Youtube and search for > timeline documentary series <  much= to learn/enjoy there.

I don't watch those anymore because the fun was gone after it was let out, that the stuff is staged, not "found".

and those gold mining shows. Watching a bucket dig gets boring fast. Then i think they have 3/4s of the population of alaska on there. Only thing they lack is "alaskan hookers"

Right now I am watching a show on the PBS network called Postcards; this show is produced in Granite Falls , Mn (PBS channels located out in the boonies are far, far, far better than those from large cities)  which is 80 miles from any city with a pop. of even 50,000.

The show is about people and truly small town, less than 1,000 people and how times have changed , not for the better in SouthWest , MN.
I went to several steam shows down that part of Minn. over the years but as the older folks pass on , these events which are/were the big event of the year are slowly fading away.

Interesting but also very sad.

PBS is a libtard channel funded by socialism.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Hows that? There must be at least a half a dozen alaskan reality shows on that channel. We have shows like alaskan bush people, gold mining, even house buying. Then factor in theres only about 750k living there. compare that to NYC that alone has 10 times that many. the 3rd lowest population in the biggest state in the US having 3 times the land mass as TX that has almost 3O million. You want real survival? Put them in the woods here in the winter. We get as much snow and cold as most of alaska and there isnt near the game to feed yourself with all winter. Comical thing is what they dont tell you about those silly shows is the people on alaskan bush people have homes (nice homes) in the lower states and are quite wealthy from those phony shows.

First of all, you said Alaskans.  Shows like the bush people are fake and they aren't even Alaskans.  They even got caught trying to get dividend checks from the state of Alaska and got a free room in the crow bar motel!

Some of those shows you are taking about, are filmed in Canada, not Alaska.
