Looks like mowing the lawn is done till next year
« on: November 12, 2022, 03:14:16 AM »
The weather guesser hit it right, predicting 24 degrees last night, and that is exactly what my thermometer read just at sunrise this morning. The nearest weather station is 18 miles away and they showed an overnight low of 18. I believe they need a new thermometer as they were showing a low of 23 for yesterday but there wasn't any ice in my critter's water pan.

To be honest it would suit me fine if I had to mow some and poison a few weeds year round. The older I get the less I care for cold weather. I know this is considered warm weather by our northern dwellers but I am not one. I was approached to move to Alaska right at the start of the oil boom there and turned it down because of the cold and also had a chance to move to Colorado not long after and passed for the same reason. Nope, this south plains guy is staying right here where it gets cold enough I don't like it. At least it warms up to shirt sleeve or light jacket weather between the cold snaps.

It was 19 when I got up this mornimorning. 32 now. I need to check cattle that haven't come in when I feed. Likely on top of the Caprock.
I'm thinking about saddlin my horse and tying him to the corral fence, then going to feed. If they still haven't come down, by the time I finish feeding it'll be warmer, and I'll ride up for a look. No wind today.

No wind here either. It's been blowing so long I guess it got tired and has to rest.

I mowed my "last" time a couple weeks ago and I'm fine with that!

  Lately, I've been turning this,

  into this,

As you can see, it's all done now and ready to go out and I'm glad for that!

I'm already tired of the cold.
Winter started here with cold
rain and cold winds, and my
joints and old fractures are
singing a sad song. If  I live
another decade I'm going to
have a rough time if things
get a little worse every year
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Well, saddled ole "Nacho" tied him to the  fence while i fed cattle and waited on a friend to come over and help me pen a bull.

He and Mikes' horse got good workout. Pushed that bull more than a mile to the pen and over the cap, but it was a good mornin.

Its 52 degrees, and no wind.

How big are you? That looks like Matt Dillon's saddle on him.

Wind came back last night and is supposed to continue through tomorrow. 35 mph or so.

Up here it is -6 right now, and is supposed to raise to -2 at nine P.M. when the snow is supposed to come and the drop down to -11 by morning.
But that is about as accurate usually as throwing the bones, maybe less.
The talking TV heads are already verbally flatulating : - WITH THE WIND CHILL, YOU ARE GONNA DIE - bull feces.

Now with the wind hitting 40 miles an hour as is forecast, with the light snow we had that will be white out dangerous if you are driving; we only had a few inches of snow up here, but down where my other garden is it was approx. 6 inches.

It seems odd that the TV talking heads speak of record cold, only is only a record if you only go back ten years or so but then most of the so called weather people up here, were born where sub-zero is not the norm.
Maybe they should go back.

Yeah; we are supposed to get some of that too, by tomorrow morning.

We got this a few days ago,

BUT, I had this load to split,

So, the next day, even though it snowed all day, we went out in it and got it done,
