Got any pics of the finished piece yet?

It's not finished yet but more work has been done; some basic turning and drilling of the bore.

I tried to make a movie of the drilling but it didn't work.  Oh, well.

More progress; the tower top deck has been made.

Probably do the taper next.

Minnesota road trip being being discussed again, mid July.  Told daughter, I am not coming up if it is going to snow.  She said 50/50 chance.

Yes familiar with snow country and Snow plows and sand trucks and new windshield every spring.  But Minnesota doesn't use snow plows, they use Zamboni machines.   :)

HEY!  At least I wasn't driving my '23 T-bucket hot rod.  ;D
Good to meet up with you, too.  Already have a plan or two for one of the heavy wall tubes you handed off to me.  I'll have to make a chamber insert for 10 gauge blanks, but........

Finally did some more work on the mug, mostly because I needed the lathe for another project and didn't want to waste the setup, which turned out to be spot on.

Or http://gunneyg.info/images/Rook-Tapered.gif if the image doesn't show.

Oh, yeah.....that's looking great.  The taper and height appears to be spot-on.

While waiting to build a clamping device to hold the body while milling the embrasures through the battlement, I started on the foundation ring. It has been faced to thickness on both sides and the central hole to connect with the body has been mostly bored. It is just under 3" now with a final diameter of 3.250" which has to be dead nuts on since the body is 3.253" already and it is going to be a shrink fit.

After the hole is finished, I will put the chuck jaws inside the hole and turn the outer steps and round the corners.

Put some more time on my Rook Thunder Mug.  Cut the foundation down to its final size and cut the step, too.  Next is rounding the outside corners according to the plan.
