How far south of Buffalo are you?  I heard they are calling for feet up in the Buffalo area.

Minnnesota was not known for deep snow except up by Duluth is not know for very deep snow, but I kind of mis the winters where 2ft was average depth all winter but your type of snow, I would have to get a bigger snow blower.

Back thirty years ago, actually more, we did get enough snow every winter, and I had no snow blower, that snow piles on the edge of the parking were so high I could not thow the snow over them any more and qne had to carry it twenty feet and throw it else where.

Many years ago, 50, when I shoveled Dad's driveway, on one side it would get so high, if I threw it over I was filling up the alley way, so the city sould come with a bucket and remove that pile. ;D

I'm about 50 miles southeast of Buffalo, in another county.  We get what is called "lake effect" snows.  When conditions are just right, and a cold wave hits vapors rising from one of the Great Lakes..in this case Erie.. it changes that vapor to snow.

Normally what Buffalo gets for snow, we usually get more..  Go into the 'Today's News' forum, and see ""Check in on snowfall"..
and you can occasionally tune in on live cams from the Buffalo area.

...But the storm can still hit, sometime between now and Sunday..

Where I'm at we will get lake effect snow, but its generally in inches, not feet.

I haven't been hit much yet, but it is headed my way.  The wind is due to shift, sending the storm over me, south to the Pennsylvania line.
Once the lakes freeze over, such a lake effect storm cannot happen..

about got in a wreck last night. Wife had surgery on her hand and we were driving home. It was storming pretty good but nothing earth shattering. we were on a stretch with low visability (open to the lake) and some idiot pulled out of a side road right in front of me. I hit the brakes and the anti locks were dancing and somehow i skidded right along side of here between the edge of the road and the ditch. I skidded right past her inches away from her car. By the time i was up to her rear end i was doing about 40mph and she was doing maybe 5mph. Stupid lady must have saw me coming in the rear view and hit her brakes instead of getting out of the way. I pulled along side of her shaking my fist and using words i cant even post here. Closest ive came to a wreck in years! Then to beat all she pulled back out and my wife said "Look, she has West Virgina plates" Probably the first time she ever drove in a snow storm. What dont they just stay put till the storm is over. Id bet 90 percent of the winter wrecks here are caused by idiots that are driving 30mph because there scared and everyone is trying to pass them. Heck id bet some of those city idiots never drove a 2 lane road before. Tell you another one that had me chuckling last night. Idiots that put there emergency flashers on in a snow storm (which can be dangerous) but are to stupid to turn there (censored word) headlights on.

My vehicle wash job is fine so far. No flurries, no freezing drizzle, and no 21 degress. 30 and thin clouds this morning.
