    seems to be along city vs country lines, along with certain other areas, which seem to be western Indian reservations

   if several states were to form a pact, what would they accomplish?  They would still have to deal with THEIR cities
   and THEIR poverty/reservation areas.   
   For instance, I was in hopes that there in Texas, the Rio Grande valley would go red, but nope..it remained a
   deep, dark blue.

        So they separate.....   Those blue areas will be just as intransigent as they ever were, and nothing will be accomplished

New Mexico exists on federal government and oil production money. Remove either and the state is kablooey as the founders were smart enough to put a clause into our state constitution that we cannot go into debt to operate. NM will do nothing to oppose the feds in any way.

     Unless I am mistaken, you are between 400 and 500 miles from the border at Del Rio.  Do you travel often to the border?  Just for perspective,  live about 60 miles from our northern border.  If I were to go to that border, then continue up into Quebec another 400 miles or so, I would arrive in Notre-Dame-Du-Nord, Quebec, and I must admit that I know nothing about that place, other that it may be some kind of mining village on the frozen tundra most of the year.  So, do you visit the border often?  How do you get your news of the border?

   Yes, and that is a sad situation...but we conservatives here on GBO have virtually all voted against the present tyrants, just as you have. So we have little or nothing to do with what is happening in DC..and wish it were not going on..so now what?

Your son was lucky. Most don't have insurance. In Texas you have to have insurance, and a state vehicle inspection to register a vehicle. Illegals, and many legal Mexicans used to buy a 30 day policy, get their junkers registered, and then cancel their policy to get most of their money back.
Texas finally past a state law where they couldn't do that anymore.
Most people think Mexican illegals are ignorant of united states law, and state laws. Quite the opposite. They know the laws, and don't blink when they find a way around it.
