Training a rising craftsman
« on: December 23, 2022, 09:10:53 AM »
A "Crusader's candle holder", an original which I made years ago..  Spent* last Tuesday morning teaching my grandson how to forge the elements together...making an expression in steel.
Notice how, with the same project, each artist has their own expression.

Top one , mine lower one , grandson's..

IG you are doing a great job as I think his is better, although I do like the way your cross planes with the bottom of the shoe better. I want my children to be better than me.

Absolutely !  I want him to be better than I ever was..he already makes far better and more complex blades than I..

He must have put some kind on browning or oxidating color on the steel, as I left his forge before he finished all details.  The differences are the different ways we see things..that is called the "artist's touch"..
