A few days makes a lot of difference
« on: December 27, 2022, 10:52:33 AM »
The temperature reached 66 degrees today. Last Friday it was 23 degrees at this time. See why I call it yo-yo weather here? I saw a piece on MSN about it dropping 40 degrees one day somewhere up north and how extreme that  was. Gimme a break. We have it do the same and no one whines about it. Maybe it is because we know it's going to warm right back up in a few days.  ;D

Right now it's 67 degrees.  Wednesday it was -1, and Thursday the high was 10.

You are a little closer to the north pole than I am. Evidently that barbwire fence on north in the panhandle has fallen completely down. Lots of members won't have a clue what I am talking about.

The difference up here is it can , and has , killed a lot of people in the past.
To many imports or people 40 no nothing of what winter can be up here, so to talking TV heads it is the end of the world.

The largest 24 hour temperature change in Minnesota was 71 degrees on April 3, 1982 in Lamberton located in Redwood County. The high was 78 degrees and a vigorous cold front dropped the temperature to 7.

Largest Temperature
                Changes in a Calendar Day
                    in Rochester MN
                     1883 to 2008

  1   May 5 1909        58 degrees   (High 90 Low  32)
  2   February 12 1939  56 degrees   (High 38 Low -18)
  3   February 26 1940  55 degrees   (High 27 Low -28)
  4   February 11 1934  54 degrees   (High 34 Low -21)
  5   October 18 1939   53 degrees   (High 73 Low  20)
  6   January 20 1937   52 degrees   (High 32 Low -20)
      February 23 1918  52 degrees   (High 52 Low   0)

  9   December 24 1949  51 degrees   (High 34 Low -17)
  10  February 27 1935  50 degrees   (High 28 Low -22)
      January 18 1996   50 degrees   (High 45 Low - 5)
      March 20 1934     50 degrees   (High 69 Low  19)
      May 2 1918        50 degrees   (High 78 Low  28)

These are all in Southern Minn., where 20 below is extreme; sixty to eighty miles North 30 to 40 below is not uncommon.

It weeds out the gene pool but too many Southern liberals keep flooding up this way.
We can't kill them fast enough. :-*

So far, 28 dead due to the storm.  All but one in Erie county..basically Buffalo.  One case there was a couple where the 50 year old wife died, and they were not dug out for 3 days.  Guess the husband had some pretty quiet company for 3 days.  seriously, I hope he had the presence of mind to place her in an unheated room and close the door..

Others will likely be found as they dig out unseen cars from snowbanks..
