I've carried nuthin smaller than a 40s&w for over 30 years, and have pretty much shunned the wonder nines with great distaste right up to the bitter end.

I kept hearing about these 365 Sigs, and a grandson showed up at my house with one. Liked it but it was a 9mm.

Well, today on my way home I passed 2 deputies, and a Texas State Trooper with a pickup pulled over. There were 11 or 12 illegals sittin in the ditch, and a white boy standing by the DPS unit with cuffs on. I circled back around and parked on a lot close enough to watch.

Lo and behold, they loaded up the white boy, towed the pickup, and left the illegals standing there.

I thought about that awhile, and knew it was happening, but there it was. I went to a gun shop, picked out a Sig P365 XCA-9-Comp and some ammo, and left my Smith 686 on the mans counter.

Hope I don't regret it, my two boys have been telling me there's some good 9mm ammo out there now. Either way, the Sig is quite a bit lighter, and I'm thinking with the compensater, flat trigger, and 18 rounds it will make up for the loss.

Now I'm gonna go eat my crow.

Might I suggest the following top-notch self-defense ammo for your new 9mm handgun: Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, and Winchester Ranger T-Series.  The 124gr versions of each of those are excellent performers and all pass the FBI/IWBA performance tests with flying colors (including barrier penetration tests).  Find one (or more) that function flawlessly and hit to point of aim and you will be well served.

Yeah,  the ammunition is supposed to
be way better in 2022 than it was in
the 80's and early 90's when I had my
9MM's
I've never forgot when the FBI agents
put a dozen or so 9MM slugs in Michael
Platt and he still managed to kill 2 agents
and severely wound several others
About the same time or shortly after,
my friend's nephew who's a sheriff's deputy
in far east Texas shot a struggling suspect
in the face with his 9 and it skidded along
the facial bones and left behind his ear.
Dope will do that. He traded up to a 40 IIRC.
I may have another 9 someday if I live
long enough, but I'll have to hang on to
what I have for now

For sure, Gold Dots are top tier.  I went through ShootingTheBull410's extensive testing and review for the 9mm and the three I mentioned above all performed exceptionally well.  Not enough difference to really matter, though I think the HST was a bit more consistent if I recall.

yup me too. Gold dots in everything i carry. I practice with cast but its gold dots for serious work in the 9 40 and 45.
 Only one that doest have gold dots in it is my 29 glock thats loaded with 200xtps but then I dont think ive ever carried that gun other then in the woods.  My buddy bought one of the small sigs (i dont remember what the number is) At the same time he bought a hellcat and a smith shield plus. He sold the smith and hellcat and kept the sig. What id like to see is the glock 43 made in 40sw. They already sell them with the longer grip frame. Gets to the point though when you have to say enough.

  My grandson said that he and his fellow Marines didn't consider the 9mm a sure stopper...basically because of the mandatory hard ball ammo.
     Being a developer in the munitions industry, he considers the various rounds available to civilians, to be a whole different story.

  My 38 special carries +P rounds in hydro-shock.  Were Gold Dots available when I purchased them, I would have
  opted for Gold Dots. I use hardball for practice.
 
  I am probably overdue to replace my carry rounds..so I may be able to find the Gold Dots then.

nothing wrong with xtps either. In testing they penetrated a bit more and had just a slightly smaller wound channel but i doubt anything alive would know the differnce in which it was hit with. We had good luck testing the bulk remington hps too.

Took the Sig with to the ranch and ran a magazine through it. It shot every time. Happy day.

Well, I'm into a little over a month with the Sig. I've shot it some more and the trigger is much better. Got a better holster, and it carries really good.

Here is a simple trigger improvement trick for the plastic fantastics. Take it apart and spray the innards with SuperTech carb cleaner. Pull the trigger several times and then spray and pull again it again. Blow the thing dry with compressed air if you have a source or just let the cleaner evaporate. Then spray it with a dry lube. Hoppes is good and it contains a lot of teflon. Pull the trigger several times and then repeat the process. Clean the overspray off the outside and assemble. I have done this to two guns with not so great triggers and it's amazing how much better they were afterward. One was a Sig P365 XL. Although it was fairly decent when compared with the other it was better than before and the other was much better.

Our elderly neighbor accidentally fired a 9mm hollow point gold dot through his mattress, the box springs , through the carpet and the wooden floor. Ending up buried in the dirt under the house. Thank goodness it didn't hit anything else. His gun is a used Ruger American he bought at a gun show. I don't think he was very familiar with it. I was impressed with the penetration.
