50-95 new and old
« on: January 10, 2023, 07:17:29 AM »
After reading about Colt slide-action rifles on the .22 thread, I looked up information on .50-.95 ammo as Henry still makes a rifle in that caliber and some on other sites had said prices for ammuniton were obscenely high.

Well , they are right, if one can find any but , https://www.ammunitionartifacts.com/unitedstatescartridgecases?offset=49 sells cases made from brass shot gun shells for the century old guns $6 ea. and cases from .50 Alaskan  for new rifles $5 ea..

There site says the cases from shotgun shells might not fit the new Henry guns, and they should get the ones made from .50 Alaskan.
Why , would that be; these are not preloaded cartridges just cases; as the one hand-loading them would determine how hot the cartridges would be .
Oddly, the ones from .50 Alaskan were cheaper than those made from shot-gun shells.
