Steak prices are insane

These Might Just Be The 10 Most Mouthwatering Steakhouses In Minnesota -- Bovine Feces, majority of these joints, are just a good way to pee away money.

https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/minnesota/10-mouthwatering-steakhouses-mn/

Most of these serve nothing more foo-foo that sirloin or strip.
I ate at Murray's 30 years ago, steak was good but prices then were high , but not asininely high.

Now what really got me pissed to the point I just had to blow off steam here, two of these now sell raw, take home and cook steaks.
Well I have purchased a goodly number of steaks and roasts from foo-foo online steak seller.
(not all are butcher shops) and the best I found, Allen Brothe's Steak, they serve some nationally know joints like the ones in the link, )

Now from Allen's one can get two dry aged bone-in rib steaks, 22 oz. each for $165.
At Manny's in Minneapolis, two raw bone-in 24 oz. dry aged rib-steaks $205.
(Those prices at Allen's are close double from what they charged in 2019 before the Virus; A four bone 8lb Rib Roast I paid 207 dollars, shipping included, for is now 370, before shipping)

The kicker here is a cooked bone-in Rib steak at Manny's is 80 bucks.  :o >:(

I buy ribeye rolls from a packing house. They come vacuum packaged, and I age'em about 40 days at 33 degrees, then I trim the excess fat (Rufus  loves that), cut'em into steaks and repackage 2 per pac, and vacuum seal those for the freezer.
I bought the last roll cheaper than the one before, and got 5 extra steaks (25 total that roll).

Those "Top 1o" lists are no more or less than, than somebody's opinion.  Another person's rating may differ greatly.

Not being much of a carnivore, it doesn't affect me. I cannot recall offhand, when I last had a steak..

  Don't miss them either..

I didn't say I don't eat meat, I just don't eat it in the quantities some do.  I realize my old bod requires protein;
so I try to include 3-4 ounces at some time in the day..  It doesn't matter to me what kind of meat it is..burger, chicken
  or whatever, will do.

I agree; the same site does have a list of steak houses in small towns, well, a lot of those supposed small town steak houses were just really beer and burger joints that did have steak on the menu, or just plain small town restaurants.

Sadly Budger's Supper Club in Maynard , Mn, has closed, good steak for reasonable price, as the owners want to have a life before they die and no one came forth to buy the place.

In one of the miseries of a highway by passing a town, Maynard was approx. 1000 people when I was a teenager, Clara City just 6.4 miles down the road, and both on the railroad, was a bump on the highway of 200 people.

Well the highway by-passed Maynard but still goes straight through Clara City, now Maynard is a dead town of 300 some people but Clara City is 1,300 people.
Clara City down town is really still a bump in the road except for, the new large truck stop at the intersection and the grainery/elevator that was built there, when the high way went around Maynard, where it used to be, but the Maynard down town is one that one can see once had a lot of business but now is a lot of empty buildings.

It's a great deal like those "top 10 small towns in".. you name the state.....

There is one fellow who does that, and his opinion is far different than mine. He seems to raise the value if it is a
college town, if it has night clubs, ski slopes, and a host of other things, I wouldn't walk across the street for.

...But that's the difference...."one man's meat is another man's poison.."

Fish with coleslaw is good. I like salmon the most, but so is a fried catfish fillet. Sushi , naw, no thanks.

I like fish although I eat fried shrimp and eat tuna and pollock mostly. My kids love salmon and I fix it for them and although I don’t dislike it I like other types more.

The local, two blocks away, grocery store had T-bone on sale for those who had a grocery club card.
It was $8.98 a pound so I bought two, $17 and change.
Some of the so called T-bones had zero tenderloin; it was stack two layers high with had board separating the two layers.
I told him to remove the top layer and bought two on the lower that had the largest tenderloin and he had to stretch to reach.
We spent 6 dollars for Simeck's meat balls but that was with 7 dollars off regular price.
We spent 100 dollars but our grocery card saved us 41 dollars, also get 36 cents off per gallon next time I get gasoline. 8)

Haven't had a store bought beef steak
in a while.  Had some nice venison and
fresh caught fish and shrimp
Had a nice hamburger with store bought
ground chuck the other night
The section 8 hood rats always have
nice taxpayer meat and groceries though

...Glad I don't crave the stuff. I was in a supermarket tonight, and took note of their premium (US everything) NY strip steaks $9.99 per pound.

Still glad I don't hunger for them.

Perhaps it is time for families to consider raising their own broilers or domestic rabbits.

The last milo I bought at our local feed store was $24 for 50#. I'll pass on raising any critter for food. I have even ceased feeding the birds.
