speer tnt 50 grain accuracy

loaded some of these up for my .223,with h4198 22.6,c.o.l. 2.250,cci 450 primers. first 2 or 3 shots groups within 3/4 inch then itll send one up high? ive been waiting 3 or 4 minutes between shots.had two targets setup 100 yards. first two shots within 1/2 inch verticaly,so i moved to the next target to see how it would group, first one 2 inches to the right 1 inch high.then it would do better then it would send one up or down.this is off the bench,i tried different positions resting the gun on the bags,i thought i found the problem but it didn't seem to matter how it rested on the bags.

Have you tried it with any factory ammo?  Just too many variables at one time there.

Reloading is as much guesswork sometimes as it is science.  The science is amounts of powder for bullet weight and the guesswork is bullet type, style, weight etc.

My 223 does not like ANY loads with 4198.  I usually get 3-4" groups.  My three shot group with H335 and Hornady 35gr Vmax was .65".  First time I tried that load (the guesswork part).  So far it hates the Win Value pak ammo, I get a sloping string of three evenly spread 4" wide.  Really odd!

My 223 likes H 335 and 40 gr. Vmax's over 26.5 grs. of 335. Also some 223s like a bipod on the front, mine does.  Digger

Sometimes rifles are like kids.  They will not cooperate till you feed 'em what they like.

Glad you found a load it likes.

My son's 223 Handi just put 3 shots of Win Value pak ammo into .5", but my 223 Ultra spread 3 shots of the same out to 3.5", go figure.  Course mine is new and not broken in yet.  It does like the Hornady 35gr Vmax though.
