I live in munising MI but mostly grew up in Gwinn michigan. There was a big SAC air force base there that closed about 20 years ago. It was by far the largest employer in the area. I posted earlier how it turned into a welfare commune. My sister and mother taught in gwinn for years and my sister now leads a group to fight the union wokeness in there school system today. She visited me in the hospital when i had my surgery last week and we were talking about how nuts this state has gotten. She informed me that now because of that base and the low income levels it has lowered the income level average for the county and because now its so low that EVERYONE no matter what there income level or jobs status gets 200 dollars a month snap cards fore EVERY school age kids in the house.

 So people like my nephew that him and his wife work at one of the oar mines in a neighboring town (different township) and between them make over a 150k a year get 400 dollars a month in food cards. She said if the husband and wife get divorced and share custody BOTH parents get that money. Not only that but every student in the school system gets a free breakfast and free lunch. This is so much a blatant buying of votes. Since the welfare system took over the base a high percentage of the voters are welfare trash. Which brings up another one. Even those welfare bums who already get snap cards get an additional 200 dollars a month for each kid. But the poor old lady that has to live on social security gets NOTHING. WHY? because that isnt a large voting group.

My sister said that she has to go shopping the day before snap cards come out because that day and the following week you cant even buy meat at the stores localy. As fast as they put it out people are filling there carts with it. She said it mostly effects meat and junk food and frozen food. Told her it would pay bums in neighboring townships to move there. She told me its already happening. You cant find a rental anywhere in the county and house sell in a matter of days. Just think about it. If you  move 15 miles to a different town and buy a home there and have 4 kids thats 800 dollars a month. Takes alot of the sting out of a house payment. 

Shes said there's rumors that on that old base there's as lucrative business in sell snap cards as there is in meth. Think about it . A single mother with 3 kids gets 600 dollars a month from this program and her normal snap card too. No way they can eat that much food. I told her you should start a movement to refuse to pay your property taxes and  school taxes until they change this but she said they would about love it. They would take your house for back taxes and hand it over to another democrat looking for a free ride. Old whitmer is making a win win. She ships the welfare trash up here just like NYC trying to send the immigrants away because they dont want to look at them every day and then she sets them up with bs like this and it buys her another vote.

What a sad situation..  All those extras are being handed out  by crooked politicians..buying votes from the ignorant.

   Why should the lazy even think of going to work..if they can lie back and let the rest of us support their bad habits...starting with laziness ?

   Thank your sister from me, for fighting the socialist colossus.  Sadly though, sometimes I think that is much like
   Don Quixote, tilting at windmills.

About the same thing here. Latest thing that has come up is paying 100% of teacher's medical insurance premiums. Yes, the teachers that are doing such a splendid job that our kids are the lowest in the nation in scores. Oh, and free college for everyone also.

Every program, and branch of state and federal governments involve wasteful spending, and corruption.  I doubt that there is a single one that doesn't.

About the same thing here. Latest thing that has come up is paying 100% of teacher's medical insurance premiums. Yes, the teachers that are doing such a splendid job that our kids are the lowest in the nation in scores. Oh, and free college for everyone also.

   And truly, of what good are some college programs anyway?
