New Henry semi auto 9mm carbine
« on: February 13, 2023, 03:53:53 PM »
One of my acquaintances messaged
me about a new Henry that's supposed to
be out that takes magazines like for
Glocks and S&W etc.
Never heard of such a thing
I figured some of yall here would
have already posted several
topics on this of several pages each.

What's the story on this one?
Really real, or more internet manure?

I understand the Ruger 9mm carbine uses Glock magazines also.

I jumped on the Ruger carbine in 40 S&W. It did matter what you fed it, it as as reliable as an egg peeler. They say the 9mms were better, but I went back to sumthin I know works.

honestly i have no experience with the new ruger carbines at all. Never even shot one. My buddy though who has forgot more about guns then i know says his work fine and i know his older version 9 and 40 eat anything and id hate to even guess the round count on those two guns.

Got an email from the Henry place today.
Looks like it's called the Homesteader.
From the photos it looks like to me that
it's designed to specifically compete
against the Ruger,  except with wood
furniture.  Didn't mention MSRP or any
of that.  Just listed features and how
great it is,  and that it would accept
certain Glock, and Sigg and S&W magazines
and has a thumb safety,  etc. etc.

Not in the market for anything like that
myself. I'd probably buy one of those $300
High Point ugly carbines if I were so
inclined. You can get a 40 or 45 in those
( last time I looked)

A friend who's more interested in all
the latest and greatest sent me a
yoofloob of a guy shooting one
( I inadvertently erased it) it shouldn't
be too hard to find.
It's also threaded ( he used a suppressor)
and you have to buy the model for
whatever specific magazine you intend
to use. At first, I was under the impression
that you could switch something
around and use all the different
magazines, but I guess not.
Still doesn't really interest me even
though 9MM Luger ammunition is
vastly improved since I had my
stint with 9's back in the 80's
It's kinda out of character (to me)
to see something like that from the
Henry company, but I guess you
never know

It will sell, there's a LOT of Henry folks out there!

Look at what some of their levers sell for these days.

They have knocked some of the ugly off them and raised the price butt you can still find em slightly used for around 3 bills, and they run well.

Everybody that I've personally known that
had any kind of a High Point ugly gun
was able to run them into the ground and
they were completely reliable with whatever
ammo they were fed

I can remember Dee posting about all the
aggravation with his more expensive Ruger
and how much trouble it was trying to get
it to work reliably
