Lubbock Texas
« on: February 19, 2023, 11:59:19 AM »
love it, we had a blast there with some old friends over there. At Joe’s Crab Shack, Lone star oyster bar and Leal's Mexican food on 4th street. And in the SW mall. Been going over there for over  30 years. First daughter was born premature there .
I used to go the hospital, when not , i was at the mall movie theater watching Dances with wolves  She still reminds me of that.  She barely got into the AF. But she’s in there now, an E6. Clerical duty’s at Holloman AFB.

What ever floats your boat. It wouldn't bother me in the least if I never have to return to the place. The only reason for me to go is if another skin cancer is found because I have to go there for the surgery. I'm getting cranky in my old age. Hate to put up with the traffic which compares to a whole lot of people driving like they are the only ones on the road plus dealing with the crowds everywhere. Curmudgeon is a pretty good description for what I have become.

Loop 289, is a crazy place. We saw a new corvette scattered all over that  road once . Joy land amusement park ,is where we always took the kids during the summer.  Mom was living in an apartment in Lubbock.with all her cats back then.

Born premature there..in the Joe's Crab Shack or Leal's...?  Must have been a rough go, Phalanx..

Just funnin' you a bit there... Sounds like you had a great time..and again I hear Leal's is a good place for vittles..

All that ( and many other places) used to
be really nice, and a great all around place.
Been some years since I was out that way.
Last was visiting Palo Duro and around the
region.
An acquaintance that does generator and
welding work around on various drilling sites
said the area was full of the usual methheads
that come with drilling and other projects
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

That's for sure. Our wonderful EPA with all their knowledge and wisdom once cited Lubbock for it's air quality. It was one of those 65+ mph windy spring days where you sometimes can't see 20 yards because of the dirt in the air. They also did the same to Roswell, NM during that era. We had TV from Lubbock back then because they owned KBIM, our NBC TV source back then when it was antenne or nothing outside of town and they introduced the story with "In a city where you can see 87 miles the EPA cited them for poor air quality." Sierra Blanca (called Baldy by the old timers) mountain is 87 miles to the west and you can see it on a clear day but it was one of those spring howlers. The backdrop for the story was a picture of the mountain taken from the west side of town.

Lubbock has gotten a lot bigger towards the south than what i remember when going to Texas Tech. But we still have a lot of old college friends there. There ain't crap to see or do in Clovis. Unless you want to see a big prehistoric spear point, called a Clovis point. Hobbs is really spreading out also. Mostly to the North it looks like. I don't know about Lovington, it looks about the same. But you do have a nice hospital there.
