almost scammed on ebay
« on: February 21, 2023, 11:19:04 PM »
been looking for a short box standard cab older ram to play with. Found a 2004 ram rumblebee that looked like it was in great shape and fairly priced in NC. I contacted the guy made a counter offer and he excepted. Then the shaddy crap started. First I asked him if he could meet my wife in the airport so it would be a public place and she would then pay with a bank check and he could call the bank to verify if. He said no he would not take a check and would not meet at the airport. He wanted me to pay with some paypal type service ive never been a member of. He wanted me to pay like immediately. I told him no way was i paying without a title in my hand. So i told him that id have my son in law fly down and meet him in person and pay in cash. Hes a big boy and carrys a gun. Much differnt then sending my wife. I didnt hear from him for a day and contacted him to ask him an email to send paypal for the 500 dollars down. He said he didnt do paypal. Well it said right in the ebay add 500 dollar deposit via paypal. Then while waiting for a reply ( he never would call me or give me his home address) i looked at the add again and it was still there but for 2k more. When he got back to me he said sorry but i pulled the add and you should have put your 500 dollars down. I told the (censored word) that would have been tough considering you never told me where to send it. That add disapeard in about 2 hours so i about know what happened. He got a better offer while we were discussing things and pulled the add and put it back up at a higher price and didnt tell me. Hes (censored word) lucky i never got a home address or i would have taken a ride. I know two guys that i served with and still keep in contact with from NC and they would have gladly came along for the ride. Wife made sense though afterward. With the stock market tanking yesterday and russia and china making new noise together maybe i should be spending money on another toy right now. Probably should be buying dry food.

I knew a man ( now deceased) that got
scammed in that fashion.  Bought ( a Chevelle?)
online and sent a large amount of money
through one of those money transfer
services and lost it all with no recourse
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

what made me alert was my son in law. A few years back he found a ram diesel thats price was to good to be true in VA and sent the guy 5k down on it and went to pick it up and nobody was there and he never heard from the guy again and after 5 years of fighting with ebay never got a dime back. They even got ahold of the local police dept and they about said sorry jack we dont have time to help you. I warned him when he did it but he was convinced after talking to the guy a couple times that he was legit. that was exactly why i refused to send him the money before i had a title. Your 500 dollars down is protected by ebay and paypal. You send anymore and its on you. Been hunting high and low and finding a good short box standard cab hemi ram is tough. Seems everyone i find has more then a 100k on it or is a 6 cyl. Told the wife yesterday id probably be smarter buying survival food.

A friend of mine got the same deal with a inboard/outboard power boat.  I also do not do Ebay.

 ..And *I don't do any "online dating" either.  ;) :D ;D

An ex girlfriend did online after we split
Found her new man long distance from
another state.  Moved down to be with her.
Stayed long enough to get most of her money
and screw up her credit royally and disappeared.
Called me boohooing afterwards
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

People can get scammed on Amazon also. I know a guy who did buying a rebuilt  >:( carburetor for his old truck. He finally got a refund but it took awhile. Online dating , now thats a scam. You might get yourself a lovely hog lol.

You'll get an empty bank account,
or maybe even a slit throat and
shallow grave under some new
rose bushes
