Latest strong fad...or error..

There is a fad of a few years standing that is making inroads into even the most Biblically oriented churches. It is cult
 like in it's serruptitous way of entering into even the most scripturally diligent of congregations.

  This movement is called the New apostolic Reformation (NAR), and was launched by a couple mega, new age "churches", oozing out of California.

  The wild music and ecstatic  gyrations and practices seem to such in the biblically unlearned youth.

  Their dogma includes all kinds of weird, unscriptural practices, such as:

1) "Grave soaking".. sleeping or lying on the grave of past preachers , "prophets" or "apostles". I guess they are 
  hoping to soak up some holiness or some such thing. (2 Corinthians 5:

2) Yes, I said prophets and apostles.. It seems they have revived the old offices, and placed them in/over the local
   church. (Heb 1:1,2)  (Luke 16:16)  (Matt 11:12-14)

 3)  They claim that even if one of their "prophets" makes a prophecy that fails..it's no big deal..
    (Deut 18:20-22)  (Jeremiah 23:32)

  I am actually facing this challenge now, no telling the result.......prayers appreciated.

I will pray for you. I feel your dilemma and more. I'm receptive to revivals and re-kindling of the faith. The new fads aren't for me. Some of them seem morbid at best. A preacher years ago gave me guideposts for my faith. He tapped the Bible and said, "It's in here, it's all in here."  Manmade faith window dressings will pass, I try to keep my eye on the Lord.

  We see eye to eye brother...  I indeed hope this new 'revival', started at Asbury is the real thing, but again ..patiently observing.
  We have been warned by Him, that false teachers would arise;

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (Tim 4:3-4)

  Then there are the elder's duties;
   "“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”  (Acts 20:28)

NAR is decades old and is linked to the charismatic movement of the 60's and likely the Jesus movement.  It is heretical in many ways.  There is a guy in AU who was in it for years.  He is called The Outback Berean.  He has several podcasts talking about his experiences and the evil involved with the movement.  You can hear an interview with him (not one of his few podcasts) here https://player.fm/series/fighting-for-the-faith-114336/ghost-stories-with-the-outback-berean.

The poster GOODSHOT was neck deep in this bullshite.  He talked a lot of Jesus talk and spiritual phrases but the people that he modelled himself after and his doctrine was 50-75% NAR (maybe more) in my estimation.  That isn't a statement concerning his salvation.  He well may have been a naïve Christian who had been led down the path. 

Some of the major errors is that these people are mystics.  They practice gnosticism with supposed direct interaction with God through the Holy Spirit.  God speaks to them and through them.  They believe that they are little Christ's,  becoming so through their walk in this life.  None of their doctrine has anything to do with Christianity.

It's a bit perplexing and bitterly ironic that having seen Goodshot exposed over the years you embraced the guy and his views because he knew some happy dappy Jesus talk that sounded like modern Evangelicalism.  Why the concern now?

i guess id rather them dancing in the graveyard and believing in God then being atheists murdering unborn babies. We have real enemys out there.

    I guess you will have to refresh my memory on this, since it must have been some time ago.  I am sure I never adopted the Pentecostal or Charismatic view on things.

    I may have given him a thumbs up on some statement he made, but it would have to stand alone and be backed
    by scripture.

  In no way would I endorse "tongues" as they are misinterpreted today..nor any 'prophets' or 'apostles' after the first century.

   How long ago did Goodshot leave, and how do I find our conversations.  I would like to look up whatever i am being accused of, since I find it difficult to accept I contradicted sound Bible teaching.
