What ever happened to "global warming"?
« on: February 23, 2023, 09:24:24 AM »
We've been warned by leading experts like Algore, Jon Kerree and so many others that the world is right on the verge of combusting.  I've lived up here in the PNW for lots of decades and have never seen single digit temperatures--especially not in February.  Tonight, the temperature is predicted to drop to 7 degrees.  SoCal is supposed to be having a blizzard.  I'm beginning to think that the Global Warmies are full of p00p.

It was changed to "Climate Change" when the earth started freezing some previously unfrozen areas, that way they could harp on it without looking and sounding like a douche..big fail BTW.  It is no mystery that the earth goes through cycles, sometimes gets hot, and sometimes gets cold, and there is not a dang thing we can do about it.  Should we decrease air pollution? Most definitely, but it will not prevent the earth from doing what it wants.

Solar cycles have a big cause in this. But it’s not us, the SUN is going through some huge flairs right now. That can affect the Earths orbit % also. Hotter or colder.

Yeah, we had -1 degree of global warming here in Denver this morning. Climate change, too. A couple days ago it was 55 degrees.

Our global warming got up to 10 degrees last night, and it really got hot today with a high of 33.

And my climate changed about two hours ago, when the Earth rotated far enough that the sun dropped below the horizon .  I expect the climate to change again, at about 6:20 tomorrow morning.

More money to be made with ''climate change'', than global warming! Just ask Al Gore and Greta Thunberg!

Don't believe any of the climate change lies. It don't have a thing to do with climate change, global warming, or whatever new name they come up with. It has everything to do with money, and the transfer of wealth and power.  Think the CCP is playing this stupid game?  They are building coal fired power plants, while we tear ours down. Think China has choking restrictive air quality standards on their power companies like we do here?  We have more coal in this country than anyone.
We have 23% of the worlds coal reserves, while Russia and China have 15 and 13% respectively, but we can't burn ours. We have to sell it to China, and other country's so they can burn it.  Climate change is nothing but a big fat lie, and the majority of the people in this country are ignorant about it.  From continuous bombardment and brainwashing, by the media, k-12 schools, and colleges.

When the SUN goes through a cycle , with flairs this has happened before. Even decades before now and people didn't get in tizzy back then. To them it was just the weather. Sunspot observatory isn't saying anything about it. Hollywood sure is.
The Earth and Humans can't tell the SUN what to do. Climate change is only a hoax making some liberals rich.

I'm a skeptic about any pending climate changes, but this sure has been a punky February.  By that, I mean that in a normal year, in February I would have mowed the lawn a couple of times by now.  I mowed it once in January and that was it.

Think China has choking restrictive air quality standards
That may not be the best detail to use. Does China have ANY air quality standards? They have enough people to waste. They fertilize their rice paddies with “night soil”. Is that mentality worth imitating?
Climate change is not just things getting warmer. One of the many indicators of climate change is increasingly erratic weather patterns (which were just described in a number of posts). Yes cold/warm patterns have always been part of weather observations. One thing that has changed is the RATE of fluctuation.
It ain’t as simple as some of you make it out to be.

Well, it's all so confusing and the more the extremists predict change, the more things stay about the same.  I'm okay with that.

I'm not disagreeing that there is climate change. Our climate has been changing forever. It was changing before any industrial revolution.  What governments are doing is blaming this climate change on man, so they can transfer wealth, and control what people do.

I do not know that that idea is wrong; I also do not know that it is correct. Governments change all the time…..who is doing this controlling? Controlling what people do? To what end? Who benefits from this control?
It is too easy to blame large faceless organizations for things that we do not like. An important question, rarely asked, is what do we do about it?

If it is as you say, the transfer of wealth and the control idea are the why. Blaming man for “climate change” is the what. Is the “what” not happening?

Solar weather, flares and such, are interesting and cause major havoc on electronics. They do not affect Earth’s weather at all.

The global warming scam is is a big reason why banks are collapsing. They invested large amounts of money into the Marxist Biden regime wealth transfer called global warming.

Of course the Sun and the other planets affect our Earth in any number of ways. Who said any different?
The boulder analogy is inapt.

The global warming scam is is a big reason why banks are collapsing. They invested large amounts of money into the Marxist Biden regime wealth transfer called global warming.
Quote
The collapse may have been an unforced, self-inflicted error: The bank’s management chose to sell $21 billion of bonds at a $1.8 billion loss, in large part, it appears, because many of those bonds were yielding an average of only 1.79 percent at a time when interest rates had risen drastically and the bank was starting to look like an underperformer relative to its peers. Moody’s was considering downgrading its rating. The bank’s management — with the help of Goldman Sachs, its adviser — chose to raise new equity from the venture capital firm General Atlantic and also to sell a convertible bond to the public.

It isn’t clear if the bond sale or the fund-raising, at least initially, had been made under duress. It was meant to reassure investors. But it had the opposite effect: It so surprised the market that it led the bank’s very smart client base of venture capitalists to direct their portfolio clients to withdraw their deposits en masse.

The bank and its advisers may have also made a tactical mistake: The General Atlantic equity investment could have been completed overnight, but the bank’s management also chose to sell convertible preferred stock, which couldn’t be sold until the next day. That left time for investors — and, more important, clients — to start scratching their heads and sow doubt about the firm, leading to an exodus of deposits.

So….a run on the bank.
I sure would like to see a list of the bonds and what they funded.

With the SVB collapse, wonder how many greenie's worked and banked there in the valley? With the CEO and others selling off a couple days ahead of Friday, wonder if they realize they were thrown under the bus by their own!!

The Conversation also had an article on how the vaccine doesn't have anything to do with the surge in myocarditis, and deaths from myocarditis. It was blaming covid. The article also more or less said we can't hold much stock in the Vaccine Adverse Event reporting System. So I'm not going to hold much stock in what they have to say about the banks collapsing.  The author of the article stated how this could have happened so quickly, and it failed at an enormous speed. there have been people saying for months the banks are in trouble.

Gee, SVB was known as a climate bank. Wonder if that had anything to do with their collapse?

“Global warming” didn’t fly, so they changed the name to climate change. That way, what ever happens, they can say they were right.

DDZ: Thank you for the link to the article. It had a lot of good data. Surprisingly, the article had little criticism of the climate change and the tech companies whose research focuses on clean tech. The upshot is that the failure had more to do with poor banking practices than anything else.

Many years, or I should say decades ago, I had to do a study and report on the Ice Ages.  Because there were no scholars around that we know of during the last Ice Age, everything about it is more, or less theoretical.  There is some geological and fossil evidence, but nothing that actually proves the theory.

So what actually brings on an ice age?  Actually, it might be global warming of a sort.  When the South Pacific Ocean warms sufficiently, currents from that region flow northward and eventually reach the Berring Straits and enter the Arctic Ocean.  So what happens when warm water meets cold air? Well a rapid evaporation and condensation process is set in motion.  Clouds are formed and air currents move the clouds over the still frigid land masses that adjoin the Arctic Ocean.  The moisture in the clouds falls in the form of snow.  The whole process becomes constant and as the snow accumulates over the land it builds and compresses into enormous mounds of ice--up to a mile thick in some areas.  Some of the ice forms in mountainous areas and eventually becomes enormous glaciers that move and gouge out valleys.

So what ends an ice age?  One theory is that at some point the enormous glaciers move into the Berring Straits and plug off the warm currents from the South Pacific entering the Arctic Ocean disrupting the constant snow machine.  The snow and ice melts and in time, things return to about where we are right about now.  Notably, man and manmade air pollution had nothing to do with any of it.

Well that's one theory and it probably leaves out a number of factors, but we are pretty sure it did happen--maybe many times.  If man is sufficiently polluting the atmosphere to prevent activating the southern oceans, it's possible that another ice age might be avoidable.  The only alternative might be to get control of the sun.  That might be a problem.
