Has anybodybtried Paco Kelly's accurizer tool?
« on: March 16, 2023, 11:08:40 AM »
I heard of it years ago, on Rimfire Central, saw it described and used on video, so I built one of my own.  It helped with some rifle/rounds combinations, but for the most part, wasn't worth the extra fuss.

...Fun to play with the various hollow points, and flat nose..plus some I designed for my own use.  Some hollow points add some real "punch" to a standard .22 round..like my old favorites.. the CCI standard velocity ones..

buddy has one and i played alot with it. here is what it did for me. i can buy hp's so thats not a big deal to me. i think in 22s velocity is the main factor in expansion not hp shape. now we all know that just minor differences in bullet shape can effect accuracy alot. thats where it shines. back in the day i bought 22s by the case. all different bands and types. noe when i say bought a case of blazers, they might shoot great in a couple gun and not so great in a coupe more. with the tool i could experiment enough to make about any ammo do as good as the best factory ammo. so why didnt i buy one? because mostbly 22s are just plinking stuff for me and a 1/8 in better group doesnt matter much to me and using it is more work then i was willing to put into it.

For those like myself, who have moved more to the rimfire fun..other than big game hunting, such a tool ca prove handy.
Used as directed it not only produces a hollow or flat point or even a star shape (using a Phillips screwdriver point, resized correctly. ..but it also compresses the bullet slightly.

Other than a Bentz or match chamber..that slight expansion can help a bit.

The flat nose can be a benefit for small game, that is the selling point of the CCI produced, SGB bullet..

Eley and SK have both brought out their versions of flat nosed cartridges.

Even the new Federal self defense rounds have the flat point configuration..just something else to play with..
