I compared a vari x III to a elite 3200 today.
« on: March 15, 2004, 12:44:37 PM »
First of all I am a leupold diehard.  It is all I own.  Upon reading posts on this board about bushnell I decided to see myself.  I did not look outside at dusk.  I viewed them inside gander mountain.  I personally could not see any difference in the two.  This was last years vari x III.  Not the new vx III.  I was amazed at the clarity and sharpness.  I am also amazed that I can use this scope, IF I buy it, for 1 year and if I don't like it I can send it back for a full refund.  Not bad.

Just my opinion.

i also checked out the Bushnell Elite 3200 at Gander Mountian and i feel they are outstanding.i own a Bushnell Scopecheif 6x20 power scope and i would put  the scopecheif in the same class as the 3200.the scopecheifs are no longer made.the Elite 3200 is a winner in my book and it will be my next scope purchase.

Bushnell Eye relief

Is the eye relief on the 3200 comparable to the Vari-x III?  I have a 4200 and think it is a quality scope but the eye relief is a little shorter than I really like.  If I could get the exact same eye relief I would probably go over to the Bushnell line completely.

No, there is a bit more on the Vari-X III. The real "honey" (IMO) is the Sightron SII 2.5 x 10 x 32 - - - 3.5 - 3.9" eye relief, about 3-3/4" for most of its true 4X power range.

I was in a gun store looking  where a guy was looking at a Bushnell Banner in 6x18. He said they were great scopes and he already had 3 on 3 different rifles. I was impressed at how bright and clear the scope was.
The clerk said, Here, want to see a good scope take a look at the Nikon. He handed me a $180 Nikon.
The cheapo Bushnell was brighter and sharper than the Nikon, no contest.
Aim small don't miss.

Randy is playing with us.     Anyway, I just ordered the scope from Whittakers.

Now I have to wait for it to get here and swap out scopes before shooting the G2 again.   :-)   You don't suppose that rifle will rust away before I get back to the bench?

I know what you did post - you $@!#$%.

I sure hope not.  I think you and Mr.Wakeman, should test
those .410 primers in the G-2 Contender. No need on my end.
