Postings Lost or Unwanted
« on: March 15, 2004, 02:13:13 PM »
I've seen someone on this site state that their posting was not coming up on this forum, and I've had a couple the same way.

Is there something more to this than a computer glitch?

:D , SS. Glad to have you out and about with us. There was a difficult time period  when some posts went south and were lost. Prior to that time Mr. GB (or Matt) posted a disclaimer that during a transition period some of us would be on one server and some on another, also when that transition was accomplished that those, who by the luck of the draw, had been assigned to the old server, and had made posts on it would probably lose posts they had made. The posts would also be lost to this site. I myself lost a post or two. I did see where the AR site accuse's Mr. GB of deleting posts he does not like. I am here to tell you as someone who for 32+ years was trained and paid to make observations and to be aware of my surroundings that I have not observed this on this site!! I have deleted the AR site from my computer and will go there with the crude cry babies no longer. This is home for me. In summation ("your honor", as I used to say when giving a final closing argument in a district court), I have not seen posts deleted on this site which I would have attributed to our host Mr. GB....<><....

For the most part I let the Moderators do what ever is needed on their forums pretty much without my interference. I'll generally only get involved with a Moderator asks or if a poster thinks a Moderator is treating them unfairly.

The only posts or threads I've deleted in quite some while are those in the Classifieds I noticed the items were gone when I read the thread or my own posts/threads.

What has been mentioned is likely the cause. We had a few bad days there in moving from the shared server to the first dedicated server which ended up being inadequate to handle the load here and then we had to move to a second dedicated server with enough capacity to handle the load. Some posts were definitely lost in the process and some of them were mine as well as I was on the old server for awhile after the new one came on line.

If anyone thinks their posts are being deleted then let's hear the specifics of which thread and date posted and I'll look into it. For sure it wasn't me that deleted anything of late. For the past couple weeks I've not even been online much and when I have it has been to fight fires and answer questions about the move to the new server.
