New barrel won't open
« on: March 15, 2004, 05:27:11 PM »
Got a new 14" stainless 223 barrel for my Contender.  It does not want to open. Have to lift up on barrel and squeeze real hard. Removed the bolt and replaced it with the one (2 actually) from my 44 mag barrel ant it works fine. Any suggestions on how to fit the new one?

Call TC, They will probably ask you to send it back or they will send you different locking lugs.  KN

Hey guys, can anyone tell me how to get the ping out that releases the lugs?  I want to get a new set from TC for one of my barrels that will not interchange with my frames and I can't seem to drive the little pin out.   Has anone ever had one stick?

get some penetrating oil and the right fitting roll pin punch.
Spray the oil down and around the roll pin and let it soak in for a Little while then I will lay the barrel on a 2x4 with a hole drilled in it to allow the pin to drop trough. and tap the pin out with a hammer. If you have a spring loaded center punch you can use that to start the pin moving and then use the punch.
