Do you think H&R/NEF would accept/consider a wish list from its loyal owners?  I can think of few chamberings I would like to see...

It would be great if they did but they won't. My list is :

250 savage 8)
307 win
356 win
375 win
7-30 Waters
6.5x55 swede 8)

If I had to pick two from my list the 250 Savage and 6.5x55 Swede would get the nod.

I guess if I only had 1 choice that would be the one to choose...I'd  be torn between the Sweed and the 257...ok make that only 2 to choose from    it would only seem a logical proposition for them to offer these two...wouldn't you think.I mean really why not give the NEF fans something really special for the rock bottom price...it wouldn't cost them any more than the current lot and they could gain a wider customer base they what's already in place.   You have to wonder what Marlin is really up to these days with having them kill off the certain rounds...it just makes me wonder if they are systamacticly down sizing the line to eventually dropping them completely.

How long have we been asking for different cartridges and what do we get???? Nothing special...that's for sure.I almost think that they really don't care about us,and that they would just  as soon wish we didn't have any place to voice our concerns or frustrations...all that talk about why the closed up the old forums and stuff...heck they just didn't care and I think they never will.

You would think that with having the Ultra line...they would really make it an Ultra and offer special calibers and furniture options with high polished metal...not lackluster plastic...it would be so easy for them to do that...if only the truly cared...I just don't know

Sorry about the rant...it just really ticks me off :x

Mac11700. I like your choices for the BC.  In the handi I would like to see the supermags too, 357 Max, 414 supermag, 445 supermag.

I have been getting the feeling because of the demand and the seemily lack of supply, that the company is maxed out its production capibilty.  The only way they can add a new chambering is to take one away.  Seems like they need a good growth plan.  Wonder how old the owner / management team is there.  Wonder if they are just "coasting".  Their web site could use some updating too.  Adding poles for people to vote on future chamberings. An order tracking feature for customers to check on the status of their orders.  Something to tell customers the dates when they plan on making a production run of caliber X.  It save them hundreds of phone calls.

Guess I am ranting/venting too...

Then we could have whatever bore, chamber, twist, grooves, crown, contour, fluting we wanted.  Oh, the possibilities.

I have to agree with 32 H&R Magnum and especially the 7-30 Waters and any other rimmed cases as they seemed to work best in the NEF rifles.

The .35 Whelen would about do it.  They pretty much got all the other bases covered.  Yes there would be other cartridges that would be nice but with the addition of the Whelen they could cover all the game in North americia.  The .35 Whelen would give them a solid Elk, Moose, and Bear gun.  That's the three remaining animals in North America they don't cover.

Sourdough, I love your stories and respect you opinions, after all I have never been to Alaska to hunt and you live there. Your Brown/Grizzly bears seem to be just a "bit" larger than Maine black bears, although the Pennsylvania record of 700+ lbs is a pretty big black bear. I do admit yours grow much bigger. Maine has it's share of 1100-1200 lb moose and they fall very nicely to a 45-70.  So what about the 45/70? I load for it and the way I look at it it is capeable of any game on the northern hemisphere if loaded for that game and the shot placement is correct, which should be done with any gun and bullet anyway. If the 45-70 owner does not reload there are shells out there such as Garrets which are more than capeable of cleaning taking most large game in the world. Not to belittle the .35 Whelen, I do like the .35's and a .35 Whelen barrel is in transit for one of my Handi's as we speak (      Very Happy!!)....<><....

A must would definatly be the Whelen too.....MSP where did you get yours at???Are the still available from NEF???...I love the 45-70..and it will take everything within reasonable distances with as much authority as you wish to load for...however put it out past 250 yards and it's not very flat shooting...and yes I know many a bison fell to these old time wonders without having to shoot very flat...but...unfortunatly I don't have the luxury of sitting on a grassy knoll and use shooting sticks taking my time picking my shots...it would be awsome if I could hunt that way...but mytime and terrain limits me on how I hunt.......the one 45-70 barrel I would love to see offered would be a 26" octagon or half round half octagon style ...this one would definatly sell like there's no tomorrow if they made it available...heck I bet if they made it available in any caliber they would have a year long waiting list to have it fitted...

I have a 45-70, and for brush work it can't be beat.  But after 125 to 150 yards it is falling fast.  And yes I use the higher loadings for the lever gun.  The .35 Whelen is a solid 200 yard shooter, with 250 yards being it's max in my openion.  That is the only reason I carry one over the 45-70, better range.  I also own a .35 Whelen Handi, NEF barreled it up for me on request when they were making the RMEF run.  I love that cartridge.  It also does good in the brush, just not as good as the 45-70.

You are so right on that octagon or half octagon barrel Mac, I can see one fitted to the BC forearm I have on one of my Handi's now. It used to be on my 45-70 but it has made it's way over to my classic Handi, my 7x57. I was lucky enough to be the first one to speak up when The Montanan mentioned his .35 Whelen barrel might be for sale, as a matter of fact he said he was selling it because he had just gotten his 45-70 barrel and liked it so much he was thinking of selling the .35 Whelen. Anyway I spoke up first and was lucky enough to get it. He just e-mailed me to let me know it's in the mail as we speak...Happy Days, now does anyone here have a favorite load for their .35 Whelen Handi??....<><.... Sourdough, how about some of your pet loads your .35 Whelen...?
