bullet lube question
« on: March 18, 2004, 03:55:40 PM »
I have seen on other post that people use a mix of  bee's wax and crisco at 50/50 as a lube.

My wife loves candles and I get a lot of scrap candle wax. Could I use the candle wax in place of the bees wax?

someone said that they use a tablespoon of olive oil. what does this do for the mix?

No, not a good choice. Super 91 and Underclocked can comment FAR better than I, but you might want to check out the casting forum.

Another little note about Paraffin wax.  Most candles are made from Paraffin.  It won't melt in a microwave. :)  I dip my REAL bullets in a mixture of Beeswax, Crisco, and Olive oil.  I even vary the amount of beeswax for weather conditions.  I keep the lube in microwave safe dishes and just melt it down when I need to lube some bullets.
